Driving home from the grocery store today I caught the glimpse of at least 3 new gray hairs in the rear view mirror. Ugh. I therefore spent the drive thinking that I don't *feel* old - but then I thought, maybe I just don't know what old feels like? I mean, I feel tired quite often - but I chalked that up to a toddler that still randomly screams at 3am and often wakes at 5am. But maybe old just feels like tired? Thinking further, appears I am not so slowly approaching middle age - ack! Well, at least I'll have plenty of groceries when I do - I cleaned up at Shaw's today! Hey look, there's a chicken.
Timothy came with me to Walgreen's this morning and then Jesse came with me to Stop & Shop this afternoon. Timothy gets to go through the checkout line and then I found some obnoxious musical keychain on clearance for $1 so that was his reward for helping out. Jesse said hi to everyone and everything we passed, and the rest of the time was shouting BALLOOOOOOOON BALLOOOOOON - oy, why do they have to have so many balloons in grocery stores?? Shaw's I did alone because there was a lot to get and I knew I wouldn't have another inch left in the cart and I didn't! The cart over-floweth for $105. Of course, not everyone needs 6 bags of Lays for the price of 1, but I do. Josh has become pro-grocery game though, and today he cleaned out a closet to make room for the 20 boxes of dishwasher detergent I bought at Walgreen's, and then he cleaned out the top shelf of the pantry to make room for the 14 boxes of granola bars. Such a sweetie.
While Jesse and I were out, I guess Jocelyn got scared by a fly, and she spent the rest of the afternoon hysterical. Seriously, it took about an hour to calm her down and then randomly until bedtime she would just start screaming. I asked Josh if the fly had stung her or something and he said it didn't touch her in any way, she went to see what it was and it flew away and she freaked out and wouldn't stop freaking out.
I laid with her in bed and talked about what she was going to do at school tomorrow, so I hope she doesn't have nightmares.
Morgan lost his 2nd tooth tonight! He took it out himself - he'd been wiggling it all day (well, all week, but especially today) and it was just hanging on by a thread by bedtime when he gave it a push and pop it went. This time we managed to locate the tooth despite it flying from his mouth across the bathroom.
I met with Morgan's teachers and principal on Friday for his annual IEP. He's had a good year and will meet all his goals for the year. His math skills are at grade level. Everything else is behind but progressing. The nice part though was his regular room teacher talking about how well liked he is by the other kids - that they literally fight to sit next to him and sometimes have to be broken up. One little girl is a very good friend to him and will always stop the teacher if she tries to start morning meeting without him and then will go down to his special room and get him. Awww! She said they prompted Morgan at lunch one day to ask his friends to play something with him at indoor recess and they all jumped up and started yelling "I want to play I want to play!" hee hee. Such a nice schooL
Jocelyn had another fun week at school. I swear, though - her teacher is insane. We received the articles on manipulation this week - roll eyes. But also they needed boxes - in the teacher's words they needed "big and small" boxes. Well I have boxes of pretty much every shape and size - so I emailed her to ask what she meant by big and small - big like a bread box or big like a refrigerator box? Small like a shoe box or small like a necklace box? She wrote back and said yes, they needed a bunch of big boxes and then each child needed a small box. Ummmm, thanks. Also the high school kids were having some sort of drunk driving educational thing on Thursday so the Thursday class was canceled (we don't go Thursday) and she wrote home a note saying it was important not to come anywhere near the school because the high schoolers were likely to be very upset and she didn't want the little kids to see them that way. Oooooo kkkkkk.
I managed to get to SC and back on Thursday - left the house at 4:40am, had a 6:40am flight to Charlotte, 90 min drive to Columbia, then 8:15pm flight back, in at 10:15, home at 11. Long day but not too bad. Jesse was screaming when I got home, so worked out well that I didn't stay over!
Yesterday we all went to Mandy's for the May birthday/Mother's Day celebration. So fun to watch all the kids together. Jocelyn had the most fun I think - trying out all the paints and dress up clothes. She looked especially cute in a leotard and now I'll have to go buy her one - it really was just too adorable!
