June 7, 2009

Ahhhh, preschool graduation.  It was so adorable!  It was Tuesday morning and Josh and Jesse and I all went.  Jesse sat very nicely in between me and Josh in the gym while we waited quite a bit longer than anticipated.  Then the curtains opened and all the kids were on stage with little blue caps with yellow tassels waving at the audience.  They each had a shirt with their name and handprints and 2009 written on it.  Jesse stood up in the aisle so he could see.  They sang 4 songs, complete with hand motions.  Afterwards we had to wait in the gym still while they all went back to their classrooms.  I hoisted Jesse up onto the stage so he could sing a song too, which he very much enjoyed.  Then we went back to the classroom and each child got a laminated diploma and a round of applause.  Only one child cried, and for once, it wasn't mine!  Then we had a picnic outside.  I had to leave to get to work but Josh stayed with the kids and played for a bit.

It was a hectic week at work except that I took Thursday and Friday off.  Boy did I need them!  Unfortunately I've now gotten quite used to sleeping in, not sure what I'll do tomorrow!

Thursday we had a party for Timothy when he got off the bus.  We decorated the video game room and had all his presents out.  He got new golf clubs so as soon as we had dinner, he and Josh ran out to play 9 at the local executive par 3 (which I guess means it has some holes that are par 4).  Timothy got a 46, so he was very pleased.

Friday night Timothy stayed at school until 10pm.  He had the option of staying over but didn't want to.  They did dinner and activities for all the 5th graders.  He came home with his hair spray painted and face paints all over his face.  I sent him straight to the shower.  I guess he couldn't figure out how to get the face paint off, because I later found the shower curtain covered in face paint - he had used it as a washcloth!! Good lord.

Jocelyn and I had a shopping spree at Target on Friday afternoon.  She's a bit of an enabler!  I got lucky though, she asked to get in the cart, and didn't figure out that that wasn't the best place until we were almost done.  She got a new princess dress, of course, and then we picked something for each of her brothers.  I got a running skirt to see if it would motivate me to actually start running again.  I went out both Saturday and today, so so far so good.

Well I know there were more funny stories this week but my laptop is out of juice so they'll just have to wait.
