May 2, 2010

Timothy had a dance this Friday night, at which he had his first slow dance with a girl.  He had asked a girl last time but been turned down.  I'm proud of him for not giving up.

Also proud of Timothy for another reason this week.  His teacher said to the class "raise your hand if you think medical marijuana has no valid purpose."  Timothy was the only one, the ONLY one, not to raise his hand.  The teacher pressured him "so you think it's ok for people to have marijuana when there are other prescription drugs that will do the same things?"  Timothy did not back down.  He said to his teacher, "if there are cancer patients out there, and they are sick and most likely going to die, and this is something that makes them feel better, then I believe they should have it."  Yeah, that's my boy.

And so Timothy is the star of this week's email, and I think I will leave it at that. Well, except for a little something I've been working on:

Everything I Ever Needed to Know I Learned From My Kids

Wear your heart on your sleeve.  Scream when you're mad, cry when you're sad. Laugh.

Love unconditionally with everything that you are.  Demand hugs and kisses. Cuddle.

Be kind to those that are smaller, be tolerant of those that are different.  Stick up for those that need it, be loyal to your friends and your beliefs.

Take risks.  Don't give up when you want something.  Be creative, be persistent, and if all else fails, ask for help, then scream for it.

Believe that you're awesome.  Dance out loud.  Be silly and dramatic.  Don't be afraid to be unique.

Today is the greatest day ever.
