Jocelyn found a fairy in the toy room today and showed it to me, saying that it went on her ceiling in her room. She did indeed used to have fairies on her ceiling, in her old room, that she hasn't been in since she was 16 months old. How weird is that?!
In other Jocelyn news, Little Mermaid has received two thumbs up! I bought it Friday and I think we've now watched it 4 times. It's so cute!! She of course especially loves the songs.
Today Timothy became a junior black belt! Yay for Timothy! I got some video at the graduation, so will see if I can shorten it and post it soon. It was nice - 7 kids graduated. They had more seating than a normal graduation, but luckily only 7 of us were elbowing for the good video angle. Timothy was so nervous that he woke up at 4am, and at 5am he got out of bed and started practicing. When I came down at 8am, he was dressed and ready to go. We didn't have to be there until 12:30. Just adorable.
I'm so proud of him though - he worked hard and has gotten quite good. Now he starts all over as a junior black/white belt and then will be black/yellow - etc etc. I decided the day warranted a gift, so I gave him a birthday present early - American Idol for Wii. He loved it! We've all been playing it tonight. I guess the microphone measures your pitch and the little bars going across show you what pitch you should be and a little arrow shows you what pitch you are. The closer you are, the more points, and the nicer the judges comments. And vice versa. In case you were wondering, you can be horribly off key and still be right on pitch, so I'm pretty good! haha. Timothy does quite well, especially considering he doesn't know any of the songs!
In other Timothy news - I managed to sit through the orchestral/band/chorus concert this week. It was close. The orchestra is ok, for 4th and 5th graders. The band is terrible. The chorus is quite good and Timothy got to be one of 16 featured dancers during the mambo song, which he clearly loved. The biggest problem was the set changes. In the TWO AND A HALF HOURS of the concert, there was probably only 1 hour of performance. First it was the 4th grade orchestra, then moving around the chairs, then the 5th grade, chairs, then 4th and 5th grade, chairs, you get the idea. The worst was after the last band set, we had to spend 30 minutes watching 2 kids clear the chairs and band stands completely off the stage since the chorus only uses the bleacher things. I thought I was going to go insane!! Then afterwards getting out of there was ridiculous - what is it about a doorway that says "oh wait, I need to stop and tie my shoe". Holy good goodness, it took everything I had to tell Timothy what a great dancer he was when I was so thoroughly irritated with life at 9:30pm on Monday night!
Jesse took another spill this week, just as last week's scars were finally healing. This week he fell from the little slide onto the pavement and removed a good chunk of his forehead. I guess there was a lot of blood. Our friend Tim was over at the time it happened and he offered to stay with the other kids while Josh took Jesse to the ER. Josh paused to wonder why on earth he would be going to the ER, gave Tim a puzzled look, and then cleaned it out and stuck a giant band-aid to it. The kind you'd use to cover your whole knee or something. Quite a sight! We took the band-aid off the next day and it's really not that bad - just a surface scrape really, and a little bruised. It's already healing quickly, so I'm sure he'll find something else to fall on this week. He insists on doing everything the other kids do, whether he can actually do it or not! For example, he will no longer do the stairs backwards, has to walk down them like everyone else - gives me a freakin' heart attack! I can't watch - I just walk away. He knows what he's doing on the stairs though, knock on wood!
Morgan's week started a little rough. I had forgotten his allergy meds a couple nights, so not sure if that was a factor or not. But got back on with the meds and his week ended great - in fact the note on Friday said he had a "fantastic" day.
Well I guess Timothy and Jesse dominated this week's update. I can't think of anything else for Morgan, and I feel like there was something I was going to note about Jocelyn but have forgotten. Oh well, maybe I'll remember for next week!
