April 4, 2010

A long week but a fun one.  Sunday we left for PA.  We left a bit later than anticipated, but really that's because we're idiots and should learn to anticipate that we're going to leave later than we plan.  Anyway, we got to the hotel in the late afternoon and then Susan & Jonathan brought dinner and Uncle Jeremy over to the hotel.  We all ate at the tables in the lobby and we were the only ones there, so that was great!  Then we went back to Grandma & Grandpa's to do the "B'dikat chametz" where you search for bread all over the house.  Grandpa explained we were going to collect it in a bag and then he was going to burn it the next day, and Jesse immediately yelled "I don't want to be burned!" and wouldn't let go of my hand the rest of the night.

Sunday night sleeping was a bit of an issue.  I was with Jocelyn and Josh was with Jesse.  Morgan and Timothy were on the pullout couch in the other room.  They all snore, but Jocelyn is the worst because it's not rhythmic and no amount of shaking or rolling does anything.  Then, around 3am she started talking!  She wasn't making any sense, but it was straight up talking, not whispering even!  Then we all got up around 7, because Josh was dropping me off in Blue Bell...

Monday I went into Aetna's Blue Bell office where I have a handful of people that have worked for me for nearly 2 years without ever having met me!  So I met everyone and various other folks in the office and then we all had pizza in a conference room and someone drove me back to the hotel.  It was a fun morning.  I brought back pizza for all the kids and then we went swimming and then it was time to head to the first Seder.  As usual, Morgan settled on the couch just as we were going to begin.  Jesse ALMOST made it through the whole Seder, falling asleep in Josh's lap at the very end.  Jocelyn and Timothy both made it through to the end, which was after 12:30am.  We got back to the hotel a bit after 1am.

Monday night we tried different sleeping arrangements - I took Jesse and Josh took Jocelyn.  Her snoring and talking was masked by Josh's louder but at least more rhythmic snoring.  Jesse doesn't snore too much, but he also doesn't keep his space very well and I had to keep shoving him away from me.  Still, it was much better, and Josh was happier because he sleeps like a log and Jocelyn is nice and still and not always right up against you. AND they all slept until 10 (ok, with a few interruptions, but still)!

Tuesday we got the kids all dressed up for lunch.  Morgan was about one potato chip away from blowing the button right off his pants, but we managed to get them fastened.  They all looked quite dapper in their suits!  I tried to get a couple pictures in the hotel before we left but Jocelyn was being a wicked stinker and making stinker faces.  (Later when looking at the pictures she said she didn't like this one or that one with her stinker face, and I said she should keep that in mind next time we were taking pictures!).

Tuesday was raining - A LOT.  Josh pulled the car up and we ran the kids into it one at a time to try to limit how wet the pretty clothes got.  We repeated the same procedure once we got to Susan & Jonathan's, and when we left, and when we got back to the hotel.

Jesse was particularly funny at Tuesday night's Seder.  Morgan had taken a break from his nap at the right time to read the four questions, and then of course Jesse wanted a turn.  Then Jesse wanted a turn reading like everyone else.  And THEN he got sick of Josh telling him what to say and wanted to just read whatever he wanted. So while the rest of us are reading the story of Passover, Jesse's turn was usually something like "Mommy loves me and I love her and I like her and she likes me a lot too".  He also managed to stay up for the whole thing.

We left from the hotel Wednesday morning as I had some stuff for work to get back for.  However, by now I had caught the kids' cold and still am not feeling particularly well.  Nothing too awful, but enough to make me crankier than usual!

Jocelyn's kindergarten paperwork is all filled out and Josh will get it handed in this week.  I got caught up on all the TV shows I had DVR'd while we were gone.  Morgan was funny today - kept coming into the living room and saying "Bye Daddy!  See you later - have a good afternoon!" and then leaving.  He was cracking us up.  Then I said what about me, and he started doing it for me.  Too funny.

The weather was gorgeous this weekend.  We got outside to play some, and Josh and I took trash bags to each of our cars, so that's good.
