April 26, 2008

Big news this week - Jocelyn has reached the "look at me! look at me!" phase of life. Ahhhh, how fun. Luckily she's usually being pretty darned cute when she says it.

So last Saturday (wow, has it been a week already??) we took what should have been under a 4 hour drive to PA. Of course, it turned out to be close to 5.5 hrs - complete with burning car on the side of the highway and a variety of other accidents. Luckily the kids were awful, so that kept us entertained. But on the up side, we managed to switch hotels at the last minute and got our 'usual' at the Courtyard Marriott (one suite attached to one regular room, directly next to the pool), so that was nice. Timothy and Jocelyn in the room with 2 doubles, Morgan on the pull out in the living room, Josh and I in the room with 2 Queens, and Jesse between us in a portacrib. We fit pretty nicely actually.

Anyway, we got unpacked and cleaned up and headed over to Susan and Jonathan's for the Seder. Jocelyn was in rare form. At one point she walked up to Jonathan and said, "My blue eyes are so beautiful". hee hee.

As per usual, Morgan fell asleep on the couch just as the seder was starting, but everyone else joined in. Jesse crashed around 10:30 but Jocelyn and Timothy both made it to the end (about 12:15 I guess). Jocelyn and Jesse were quite the dancers during Dayenu and other songs. It was pretty cute. Then we went back to the hotel and everyone slept until 8:30 - yay! Sunday we headed back for lunch (stopping at Walgreen's so I could get paid for buying some hand cream and parlay that into peanutbutter) and enjoyed a nice lunch, some pictures, and some playing outside. The neighbors and their 13 month old (who was about as tall as Jesse and quite a bit bigger) came over to play, then took us over to meet their dogs - 2 of the biggest golden retrievers I've ever seen!! 140lbs EACH!! holy moly they were enormous. One knocked Jocelyn over and she cried a bit and then said "I need a flower to make me feel better" so the neighbor dad picked a daffodil from his garden and handed it to her and she smiled and felt better.

We went back to the hotel and did some swimming and then cleaned up for the next seder. Jocelyn made it the whole time again, though with a little less verve. Jesse crashed just as we were starting (about 5 min after Morgan!). Near the end Jesse woke up all hot and we assumed he was just warm because I forgot to put the ceiling fan on for him, but he was up hot in the night too and we had to run out for infant tylenol in the morning. Just a fever, no other symptoms. He felt better when drugged and then would start to fade. He's got red cheeks today so maybe fifth's? It's not really lacey though, so I don't know.

We had another nice lunch on Monday (stopping on the way at CVS for a great deal on shampoo and foot cream), and more pictures and playing, this time with bubbles. We went back after dinner on Monday but the kids were all out of sorts so we didn't stay long. Then Jeremy dropped Joey off at the hotel Tuesday morning and we made it home in 3.5 hours - yay! We were home around 3 and got most of the laundry done by bedtime. I also ran out and picked up some groceries because there were some deals I just couldn't pass up!

Wednesday my parents visited. I kicked mom's butt at Scrabble and Timothy beat her at Spit, so she was having a slump day - haha. She brought down the shelf she built us though and we got that put into the video game room where it looks very nice. We were outside playing and Jocelyn fell down on the driveway and my parents tried to help her up but she stood up and screamed "I want MOMMY to hug me!" and ran over crying. She was coloring while we were sitting and chatting and suddenly burst out "I'm adorable!" and then returned to coloring. She cracks me up.

Then back to work for me on Thursday and Friday. Always busy digging out from days off, but not too bad.

Jesse continues to add new words. Latest is "coat shoes bus" in that order, meaning that he wants to go outside. When you reprimand him now, he shushes you! Unfortunately it's impossible not to laugh. He's also moved from just saying "mine" to "that mine".

Tonight we had Happy Hour at Grumpy's Bar. The kids and I drove a pretend car around the house and then sat up to the counter where "Grumpy" (Josh) took our orders and we all said cheers and drank up (except Jocelyn who blew bubbles in her chocolate milk most of the time). Jocelyn really got into it. She LOVED calling Josh Grumpy and kept thinking up random questions just to be able to say "Grumpy? .. " After dinner we all got in a train and went to Dopey's ice cream parlor. Dopey (Timothy) wore a coffee filter hat and served us ice cream cones (that I got on clearance at Shaw's last week).

Josh, Timothy, Jocelyn and I all did my yoga video today. Jocelyn did a really great job! She even lasted through the entire 30 minute video! It was pretty impressive _ not to mention just freakin' adorable. It was Josh's first time but he said he enjoyed it. I've managed to gain 5lbs in the last 3 weeks, mostly due to too much grocery shopping, not enough running. I'm very out of shape - so started today with the yoga again and then just need to get my butt outside more often. Jesse will be 18 months in a few weeks and I'm thinking of cutting out the morning nursing session then (yes I'm still nursing, we're down to twice a day) and running in the mornings before work. Thing is, not really sure Jesse will be on board with that, and not sure Josh will either! Jesse usually gets up around 5 and then will go back to sleep with me for a while once he nurses (I get up at 6 - sometimes he is still asleep then, else he joins me for my morning shower and dress routine), so Josh having to get out of bed and get him something to drink __ . well not sure how I see that working out.

Thursday will be a long day - I have a 6:40am flight to Charlotte, then a 90 minute drive to Columbia, then an 8:15 flight home, getting in at 10:15. But I talked my boss into letting me do it all in one day instead of sleeping over, so I don't have to pack a bag or figure out if I need to pump or whatever. I should be ok for iust one day - though haven't decided if I'll get Jesse up at 3:30 to nurse yet. Probably not.

Then Friday morning I'll work from home and I'm taking the afternoon off for Morgan's annual IEP meeting.
