June 22, 2008

Well, despite dear Spike being gone, his smell lives on. He peed on the living room carpet Monday and there is not a chemical on the planet we haven't tried to get it out. Josh even went out to Petco and paid $30 for a gallon of Nature's Miracle, which worked longer than the other things, but still the scent continues. It so doesn't help that it's been so humid. I've shampooed it with everything from white vinegar to oxy clean and have applied practically the entire gallon of Nature's Miracle. Today in a last ditch effort we shampooed, then Nature's Miracle, rest, rinse with the carpet shampooer, rest, spray with carpet fresh pet odor leave in quick dry foam (which was NOT on sale), and brought the dehumidifier up from the basement. If this doesn't work, we're going to need new carpeting - oy!! We actually need a new couch too - not so much due to smell, but due to the fact that free couches that your mom gets for you from a friend seem to have a life expectancy short of the 3 years we've lived here. Couches that can seat all 6 of us are surprisingly more expensive than couches that seat a family of four. We're debating how much we really care to have seats for the kids.

Anyway, on to brighter things. This morning on the monitor we had another show from Jesse. He kept going "brrrrrr ... boink!" which was cracking me up. Then he started with "daaddeee? daaaddeeeee - help peas?", also hysterical. He's got quite a vocabulary these days and is speaking in sentences more often than Morgan! He's also quite coordinated and is already catching balls off a bounce, which I find very impressive. He likes to walk around with a big ball in his hands throwing it up just a tad and then catching it, then dropping it and kicking it. He's got quite a kick! We'll definitely have to get him in to soccer.

So it's happened with Jocelyn, she now refuses to wear anything that is too boy-ish. I've been trying to pass off Timothy's old PJs on her and she's not buying it. She says she wants "princess pajamas". I did manage to talk her in to some of his old superman pajamas by saying they were super-girl. The bummer is that all of Timothy's old PJs match Morgan's old PJs, which Jesse is wearing, so if she would wear them it would be so cute!! She also won't wear the blue imitation crocs I got her from CVS, only the pink ones I got from Target (I was trying to be smart at CVS, buying ones that Jesse could wear next!). She always puts them on the wrong feet, and when I point that out, she hits her forehead with her hand and says "oh silly me, my left is on my right!" haha

The boys are now out of school. Morgan will start summer school after this week, but for now Josh has all 4 home. He looks rather haggard when I get home! I try to get home before the 2nd martini, but this new job is kicking my butt. I love it, just haven't gotten my feet under me yet, and now one of my direct reports is leaving for another department (he's been there close to 4 years, so I knew it would be coming, and with me moving, it set in motion a bunch of other moves). So that will be a challenge.

Both boys had good report cards. The phone rang off the hook on the last day of school with all the kids in Timothy's class calling to see which teacher he got. Morgan mastered almost all his goals for the year. Timothy got good marks in everything except proof-reading (not exactly my long suit either).

We're counting down the days until vacation - only 6 more weeks!! woo hoo!
