April 18, 2010

I love Saturdays.  I love them all the way back to Friday night when work is over. Especially after weeks like this that seemed to go on forever and ever and not in a good way.  Usually I work at home on Fridays, which is extra great because the glass of wine starts as soon as the computer closes.  Then dinner and kids in bed and a bubble bath and vegging on the couch and then the very best part - climbing into bed knowing that I can sleep until when I want and then do whatever I want the next day.  Just the greatest.

This past Friday night was just a little different because I was folding about 8 loads of laundry while watching a taped episode of House and then was suddenly inspired to shovel out the toy room so went in there and feverishly threw everything into buckets.  As I was falling asleep later on I decided that the toy room needed a much better cleaning than just putting everything into a bucket.  So Saturday morning I broke out trash bags and a big box (for outgrown but functional toys) and got to work.  3 hours, 4 trash bags, and 1 full box later - voila!  Everything has a place, everything clean, even the floor washed by hand!  It's beautiful!  So then I steamed the kitchen and bathroom floor, though the bathroom floor still wouldn't really come clean.  So today I got down on the bathroom floor with some vinegar water and a toothbrush and did the whole floor.  Then I tidied Jocelyn and Jesse's room and finally we went outside to play!

Yesterday after my cleaning spree Beka and her family came over for a play date. J&J are hysterical with the baby (who's almost 1 now) as they try anything to make him happy - giving him toys, playing peekaboo, etc.  Too cute!

Timothy got his braces on this week - or at least on the top teeth.  The bottoms will be later.  I'm not sure how much later actually.  But anyway, he's still got the palette expander as well, and will have that for several more months.  Then the braces for a couple years.  He was a pretty good sport about any teeth pain, which seems to only have lasted a couple days.  It didn't stop him from enjoying a school field trip to Boston on Thursday to the Fine Arts Museum and out to lunch where he had burgers and managed through it.

Grammy Lessard has been a bit under the weather so last Saturday I drove up to MA and met Mandy and Elisabeth and we went up to Maine to see her.  Even though it made for a long day, we had a really fun visit and I was super glad we went.  Plus I came home with buckets of old pictures that I need to start scanning and arranging. Fun!

I guess that's about it for news from here.  Another busy week this week at work for me and then I'm hoping it'll ease up at least for a short bit.  Fingers crossed!
