Josh has been sick this week - sick enough that I actually took the day off on Wednesday (and worked from home on Thursday to help with getting the boys on and off the bus). Anyway, this gave me a chance to do drop off and pick up at Jocelyn's preschooL Jocelyn has always said her teacher's name is Miss Maura. Well, she has 2 teachers (high school girls) because it's actually 2 different school periods. Anyway, one is Caitlin and the other is Kelly. The head teacher's name is Ann. So I have no idea where on earth she got Maura!! Every person I pointed to and asked who that was, she answered Miss Maura. Silly girl! This week I'm working from home on Wednesday so that I can run over to Jocelyn's preschool graduation (rumor has it there will be caps and gowns - hee hee - should be cute).
Jesse has a shoe fettish. Actually, as you'll see from the pictures I post in a bit, he likes to play dress up since that's what Jocelyn likes to do. I discovered I was in need of some boy dress up clothes! I was actually going to buy some but in cleaning out the closets this weekend, got a little creative instead. Took out the raincoat and hat my dad gave Timothy back in 2000, the vest that Timothy wore to Mandy's wedding, and a lion coat style costume my mom gave us a couple years ago. That should do for now anyway. With the shoes, he's been wearing any shoes that are left around, so today at CVS I picked him up his very own pair of navy blue imitation crocs. He loves them and they look adorable!
I needed to run to CVS and Bob's Stores today. CVS for Tide and nail polish (they were out of the mustard and soda I wanted) and Bob's for some sneakers for Josh (had a 25% off coupon good yesterday and today only). As I was getting ready, Josh announced that Morgan needed underwear. Well usually I would go to Target, but I had already spent 5 minutes figuring out my route such as to use the least gas possible (had to fill up on the way - $50! But I got lucky with a station where it was only 4.09 - the one up the street another 200 yards was 4.19) and Target was not on that route. So I went to Marshall's. Why didn't I ever go there before?!?! Oh yeah, because it means I bought one of everything - oooops! In addition to the underwear for Morgan, I got some for Jesse because it was Boston Red Socks underwear and on clearance - so cute! Also got Jocelyn some princess sneakers that light up when you walk, new sneakers and a sweatshirt for Timothy, and then about a thousand outfits for Jocelyn. They had such cute stuff!! Jocelyn loved her shoes and her favorite item of the outfits was a white sundress with lobsters on it. It looks adorable on her. I probably would have done better to just go to Target and buy underwear. Actually, who are we kidding, I would have spent just as much at Target!
I did all my grocery shopping yesterday and boy did I clean up! 10 free pouches of cat food, 5 free pouches of pasta sauce, 6 free boxes of Jello pudding - wow! It was funny because my cashier went to read me my savings, which was roughly twice what I spent, and she did a double take like she had read it wrong. The guy behind me (late 20s scrubby looking guy with his shorts hanging down to his calves) actually shouted HOLY CRAP! At the other store I managed to cut my pre-coupon total in half with my coupons, but one of them took an extra minute because the machine barfed on it. I apologized to the guy behind me (mid 50s, bald with reading glasses at the end of his nose) and he said "don't apologize for those savings - now you can go buy a half tank of gas!" haha. At both places I spent less than I did a Marshalls - hee hee.
We had a fun weekend. Got up on Saturday and cleaned Timothy's room for 90 min. Yuck! (yeah mom, I thought you'd like that one). While I was standing there, WHILE I was standing there, I actually saw him put dirty clothes back in his drawer. Anyway, we went through his entire closet and all his drawers, he tried on everything and we threw the too small stuff into Morgan's room. Vacuumed, changed the sheets, dusted, the whole nine yards. But of course that meant Morgan's room was next. I had to eyeball what fit and not since no way was he going to try stuff on, but got his closet and room cleaned as well. Then Mandy and the girls came for a visit and we played all afternoon and evening.
On Sunday I had to clean out the closet in the laundry room and turn it into a pantry because I have simply too much food to fit in our current pantry space. Looks fantastic now though! Also cleaned out the closet in the front all and it is actually a functioning 'walk in' closet again. Of course, I found a pair of boots I bought when Timothy was a baby that I was saving for when he could fit into them, someday. That day was about 3 years ago, and 1 year ago for Morgan. whoops! So now I have to remember when Jesse hits a size 2. Then today I managed to clean Jesse's closet and room, which included some carpet scrubbing, then realizing it was more than just a few *spots* and so broke out the carpet shampooer. Did some organizing of the toy room, and 8 loads of laundry (ok, not quite *done* - last load is in the dryer and 2 loads still need folding and all the socks need to be matched up - but that's close to done!). Josh cleaned the kitchen and video game room. So besides the 'extra' stuff that's sitting in the hallways, the house is pretty clean!
Josh baked bread for Timothy's class this week - they had "colonial day". This was great because it meant he made an extra loaf for us and he hadn't done that in forever! I love his bread!!
Oh, yesterday we also played outside for a while. We were having quite a fun time. But then Jocelyn saw a bug and started screaming hysterically so we all went inside. She seems more than a little afraid of bugs! Today she was holding her arm behind her back all morning and wouldn't say why. She even fell asleep on the couch that way! When she finally woke up I grabbed her hand out to look at it. She screamed "it's a lady bug!" and started to freak out. She had a little dark pill of lint or something on the end of her sleeve. She'd been holding her hand behind herself all day so as not to see it! I grabbed it out and showed her that I put it in the trash and then she was fine. What a weirdo! And this morning at 7am she woke up SCREAMING and I jumped from bed and ran in there and she was shouting "LADY BUG! LADY BUG!" (she calls every bug a lady bug). oyoyoy I don't know what I'm going to do about that one. I've tried offering her "bug spray" (water mist of course) but I think she thought I meant I was going to spray her with bugs, so you can imagine that didn't work out well.
Anyway, while outside, Jesse and Timothy played catch for a while. It was just adorable! Jesse's got a pretty good arm on him, especially if you aren't looking and he's got a ball hard enough to knock your eye out.
I keep forgetting to give Morgan his claritin. I have to write myself a sign and stick it to the fridge. I forgot 2 days last week and then he had bad days.
