It was a busy weekend. The over-working and being sick caused the house to be in a bit of disarray (ok, more than a bit!), so some cleaning was necessary. Holy moly this is a big house! On Saturday I spent 7 hours cleaning the upstairs. Granted, it not only included putting away stacks of clean laundry from weeks gone by and the normal vacuuming etc, but also scrubbing of the tub/shower/toilets, washing of mirrors, mounting the jewelry holder thingy I bought ages ago so that the kids couldn't reach my necklaces and would stop playing with them, etc etc. I did all the bedrooms - even Timothy's! He had school papers from the 2nd grade! It had been a while I guess!
Then Sunday was the downstairs. Still tired from Saturday, I didn't get quite as much done, but did at least do the toy room which by itself took me 3 hours (would have been faster without J&J "helping"). That would be because I emptied every toy onto the floor in the middle of the room and resorted everything (and those of you who have been here can attest to the sheer volume of toys we have!), rearranged the furniture, washed the floor, and steamed the carpet (which didn't help as much as I'd hoped, but did help some). I meant to dust Josh's comics but got distracted by something else. I did also at least tidy and vacuum the video game room, did 6 loads of laundry (including folding and putting away), and matched 3 weeks worth of socks. Josh is left with the downstairs bathroom, the kitchen, and the livingroom. I got a start on my office this evening and should be able to make a further dent on Wednesday. Oh, and the hallways, those are still on the list. Then we just have to try to keep it this way - yeah right!
Jesse followed me around the whole weekend doing exactly what I was doing. He scrubbed floors, vacuumed, etc etc. If I reached down to move the vacuum cord, he did. If I used my fingernail to scrap who knows what off the floor, so did he. He cracks me up!
So not a lot of news this week. Today I worked from home so that I could go to Jocelyn's Thanksgiving performance at school. We practiced most of Saturday while I cleaned - Albuquerque is a turkey and he's feathered and he's fine... She sang very nicely for me, but today at school like the other kids, she shouted at the top of her lungs! omg it was so funny! She and Madison seemed to be competing over who could belt it out the loudest - their faces were turning red! I think Madison won, but it was close. On the way home she sang the songs normally in the car - even the sweet one by Raffi that goes something like - all I really need is a song in my heart, food in my belly, and love in my family. After the performance we all sat down for snack. Jocelyn's favorite part was the doodle cheese (aka string cheese).
Oh, all the kids had these turkey hats on for the performance, so Jesse spent the whole performance explaining (loudly) that Jocelyn had a duck on her head. When we corrected him he'd say oh, a turkey. Then he'd further explain that Jocelyn had a duck on her head.
Timothy's basketball team had a scrimmage on Saturday. In Timothy's words, they got "hosed". Josh says they are not good. At all. But Timothy came home red faced and sweaty, so that's the idea! He's at practice now.
Oh, so I remember a Morgan story. Last Sunday night near bedtime he spontaneously asked to play hide and seek. So what could we do - we played! He counted, we hid, he seeked, repeat. He counts out loud, does the whole here I come thing, and then makes at least a passing attempt at actually looking. It's pretty cute!
