March 24, 2009

Last Monday night Jocelyn ended up sick in the night and actually made it to the toilet, a family first.  Then she slept with me the rest of the night and I grabbed a bucket every time she moved - so she slept fine but I didn't!

On Thursday she went back to school without giving Josh a hard time once I reminded her that she loves school.  She then got upset that there wasn't any school Friday or Saturday, so I guess we're over that.

Last Thursday night I went to Middle School orientation.  A lot of whining about budget cuts, but otherwise seems like a good school.  They have a kid-tv station! They also have late busses 3 days a week so kids can stay and do extracurricular activities and still get a bus ride home, so that's cool.

Saturday Jocelyn and I went for a run.  She kept up with me pretty well and ran more than a mile before asking to walk.

Sunday I met my sisters and mom for brunch.  As I was leaving Jesse says "Mommy, I just miss you so much.  I can't do this."  What 2 year old talks like that??

Sunday afternoon Jocelyn and I went for another run.  This time I took the iPod so I could track the time and distance.  She did a mile in 12 minutes!  Then we walked a bit and then ran almost another half mile home.  She loved it.  When I asked who wanted to run with me she jumped off the couch and yelled "I want to wear long sleeves!"  Apparently it's all about the fashion.

We got a note from Jocelyn's friend’s (Madison’s) mom that her Madison's brother had given her a haircut.  A SEVERE haircut - can't even hold a barrette any more.  I told Jocelyn that she should be nice to Madison and say something nice about her hair.  So last night Josh reported that Jocelyn had said to Madison "Oh, Madison, you look like a fashion model!"  (Pretty much the biggest compliment Jocelyn can think of).

I worked from home 2 days last week (Tuesday because I was tired from being up with Jocelyn all night, and Thursday just because).  On Thursday I braided Jocelyn's hair before she went to school and it looked so cute!  I did 2 french braids that then came to one in the back.

Josh took Jesse to the bookstore yesterday to pick up the next in the Twilight series for Timothy (he's on the 3rd book and going through them fast - he started the 3rd book yesterday after homework and is about 150 pages in right now). Apparently Jesse LOVED the bookstore and got so excited that he turned to a stranger and yelled "I have to pee on the potty!"  So Josh took him to the bathroom (where he held Jesse suspended over the potty and Jesse peed).  Then they did some shopping and somehow came home with more Max & Ruby books than Twilight books!

Oh - Josh set a new shopping record today!  His savings was so high that it triggered some kind of alarm in the system and a manager had to come over and review his receipt before they'd let him leave!!  He spent $140 and saved $198, walking out with 2 carts of groceries.  He says his bagger this week was same as last week - "big Morgan".  He says the kid is clearly autistic with many of Morgan's mannerisms but seems to be able to competently bag groceries. And today he even helped Josh out to the cart since he had 2 carts.

I finally cut Jesse's hair.  It's a bit of a bowl cut but he looks super cute.  He sat quite nicely for it, a nice surprise.
