Tag saling in South Windsor can be a bit of a challenge. People seem to mis-estimate what others are willing to pay to haul their trash away. For example, yesterday one stop had a big bowl of unopened McDonald's Happy Meal toys for $1 each. I'd actually pay someone $1 to come remove them all from the minivan and take them away! However, I did manage to find a few good buys yesterday. I had been out at Target (was looking for a leotard for Jocelyn, but they only had red white and blue ones and I didn't care for them) and stopped at some Tag sales on the way home. At one I found a leotard! For $1 - it's the kind that goes a bit down the leg like bicycle shorts and then is sleeveless. It's adorable on her!! She wore it all day and got out her blanket to do yogurt (mat to do yoga). I also found a little tykes car thing like my mom had with the big bar that comes out the back so you can walk them around - that was $2, and an old style fisher price telephone that you pull along the ground by it's string for $1. If only I could have found two of them, I would not be listening to constant fights right now! Of course, I also spent about $5 in gas getting to the 8 different tag sales to find them!
Jocelyn's graduation was pretty cute. When we got there one side of a large lobby was set up with toys and games that the high school students had made and the kids went through them to *test* their teachers. The other side was set up with the projects the students had done for their final. One was on birth order and said that if you have an only girl in a family of boys, she will likely either be a tomboy OR the girliest girl ever. I think I got the latter! Then the teacher had made a video with pictures of the semester. It was much too long, but still cute. Then the kids all got their diplomas and caps (upside down paper bowls fastened to squares of poster board) and we went outside to release the butterflies they had been observing. Due to Jocelyn's severe fear of bugs, that part didn't go that well, but luckily it was the end so we just left.
Josh helped me out with the groceries this week, and was quite a sport about it! I had Folgers coupons expiring so he went to Stop & Shop and got 6 cans of Folger's and 8 jars of Jif. Then there was a super deal on OJ at Shaw's and I wanted to get a whole bunch but I didn't want to carry them with the rest of the groceries, so he went over there for me too and got 8 (we go through 3 cartons a week!!).
So when I went to Stop & Shop lat night I didn't have that many things to get. Pre-coupon my total was about $55. After coupons it was $30. After my bottle returns it was $15 (it had been a few weeks since we returned bottles!). The 16 year old kid that was checking me out was having a fit - "wow! that's amazing!" He had to call the manager over because of all the bottle returns and he announces "this woman knows how to shop!" Then when my receipt prints he says "you have BY FAR the largest year to date savings I've ever seen!" So I pointed out that he was also handing me a $7 off my next order coupon and he almost fainted. It was hystericaL Today at Shaw's my cashier was disgruntled because he had mistakenly gotten to work a half hour early, so he wasn't quite as lively, but the 50 something guy behind me was impressed – haha.
Josh is out with Timothy, 3 of Timothy's friends, and one of the friend's dad at a baseball game today for Timothy's birthday party. It's a nice day out, so I'm sure they are having fun. According to some emails I've received this morning, it happens to be our 12th anniversary. I actually almost forgot! Life is full and busy I guess.
Friday was my last day of my old job, though it won't feel like it for another week because I don't physically move until Friday. I'm working at home on Friday so I can go to Morgan's school play in the morning, so I figured it would be easier to do the move when I'm not there so I don't have to choose between an office with a phone and one with the rest of my stuff as they always split the phone part of the move from the rest of the move.
Two coworkers and I left early on Friday and went to see the Sex and the City movie. Loved it! Then we went out to eat It was very fun.
Not much news with Jesse and Morgan. Jesse has his 18 month appt on Friday, which is where Josh will be while I'm at Morgan's play. I think Jocelyn will probably prefer to come with me. Right now Jesse is napping and Jocelyn is playing play doh and talking to me but I just keep saying uhhuh and that seems to do the trick. Morgan's disappeared upstairs and I'm afraid to go look for him. I do have to get this laundry put away. Maybe first a little TV, just for a few minutes.
