Morgan was just asking to go trick or treating. He definitely got the concept much better this year. Last year I had to walk him up to each door and help him hold out his bucket, but this year he managed to do it all on his own. In fact they all did, which was great. The exhausting part was that the little ones just wouldn't watch where they were walking - so busy talking about all the candy and the houses and the other kids that they were randomly walking in whatever direction and generally into the street. Jesse wanted to walk backwards like daddy. Jocelyn insisted on asking every candy giver if they knew ahead of time that she liked chocolate.
Timothy wore my old sumo wrestler costume. It has a fan that keeps it inflated. Morgan wore my old cow costume. Jocelyn wore Timothy's karate outfit from his first year in karate. Jesse was Stitch from Lilo & Stitch. After every house Jesse asked if we could go to another house. AFTER. EVERY. HOUSE.
Jesse also got to wear his costume to Jocelyn's classroom on Thursday. He joined the kids for circle time. They were all given different color bean bags and the teacher called each color and whoever had that color was supposed to get up and put it away. So she called purple and Jocelyn stood up to put hers away. Jesse started to get up too. Jocelyn whispered to him "No Jesse, yours is blue, you have to sit until she says blue." "Ok," he said, and sat back down. Miss Dana says she can't wait to have him next year.
Jocelyn and Jesse have a new hobby. They put pens behind their ears and carry around mini-steno pads, writing in them every so often. It's hysterical. Jocelyn has been drawing up a storm - one picture she gave me to take to work was of a big girl and a little girl and a puppy and the big girl is thinking of hearts (which I could tell because she has a thought bubble coming out of her head and a heart inside the thought bubble). Today she replicated the front of her cupcake cookbook. She likes to draw letters and ask me what it says.
I gave Jesse a haircut today - a challenge with a child that never sits still. But it turned out fairly cute.
Morgan's outgrown too many clothes since we cleaned his room last, so Josh and I sorted everything out today and filled a plastic tub and a garbage bag with outgrown but salvageable clothes for hand-me-downs. The fun never ends around here!
