Have you ever noticed that a glue stick looks a lot like chapstick? No, neither did I, but now that you think of it, I'm sure you can understand why Jesse made the honest mistake. Of course, had he done it only once, that would be one thing ...
The glue stick was out because Jocelyn spent several hours each day this weekend cutting pieces of paper into very VERY small pieces and then gluing them together and on to bigger pieces. The house looked at a confetti factory exploded when she was done, but she was quiet for soooo long! Jesse tried to join in. He sat there with one piece of small paper trying his hardest just to make one cut. He would try for a while, play for a while, then come back and try some more. It didn't help that he was doing it left-handed despite me trying to correct him. Finally he figured out that if he tried cutting a bigger piece of paper, he could actually make a cut.
We got gobs of snow. The kids had a snow day Friday and I worked from home, but it didn't start snowing until a bit after 1 pm. Of course, then we had a foot by 7! It slowed down after that but didn't stop. It finally stopped snowing a couple hours ago. I'm not sure how much we have, but seems like north of 18 inches anyway. We went out with everyone on Saturday while Josh was doing the driveway (for the 2nd time) and Jocelyn had SO much fun! She could barely walk in the snow but was throwing herself around in it and making snow angels and going down in the snow tube (then having to be carried back up - what a workout!) and trying to throw snow balls and and and. If we weren't all bitterly cold, she would have stayed out all day.
Tonight was the first night of Hanukkah. The kids were SO excited about presents. Jesse was first - from Jonathan and Susan he got the Little Tikes Coupe II, and boy was it a hit! He would barely get out to open his gift from us (a remote control car that actually scares him a bit but fits nicely in the trunk of his coupe so there it went) and ended up eating dinner in it. Too hysterical!
Jocelyn got from Jonathan and Susan new castle blocks that were also a hit until she opened her present from us, an Ariel the Mermaid Barbie. As soon as she saw was it was she started screaming "It's Ariel it's Ariel! Get it out get it out! Mommy I can't get it out, it's Ariel! I want the comb!" So right now Jocelyn is up in her room building a castle for Ariel out of her new blocks, taking a moment here and there to comb Ariel's hair.
Morgan got a Leapster from Jonathan and Susan, which he figured out how to work pretty quickly, and a remote control light up moon which I hope he's learning to work now as Josh puts him to bed. Timothy got 2 video games. First to be played was NBA Live '09 from Jonathan and Susan, then next up was Guitar Hero from me and Josh.
Josh and I don't give to each other really, so tonight was our present night since we had the ones from his folks. I got a very nice Fossil watch! Josh got the one thing he's been asking for for years that I never remember to tell anyone about - a CD/DVD cleaner! Boy will that come in handy!! So anyway, we had a great night of present opening, and no one touched the candles or blew them out birthday-cake style.
Last night Josh and I tried to watch Scrooged but I fell asleep at the Ghost of Christmas Past, and he only made it to the Ghost of Christmas Present, so not exactly what we intended. Tonight we're going to watch Love Actually and he's snipping at me to get off the darn computer and let's go already.
