August 9, 2009

I'm sitting on the porch watching the next door neighbors try to water ski.  The neighbors seem to be a mom and dad in their late 50s or early 60s with their 3 grown 20-something sons visiting with their girlfriends/wives.  One son is driving the boat much too fast while his brother barely gets up on the skis and then nose dives, repeat, then switch seats and repeat again.  A chocolate lab in the passenger seat seems to be enjoying the whole spectacle as much as I am.  Across the lake, less lead-footed boaters pull water skiers and one boat appears to have some sort of ice fishing cabin on top of it and is motoring about, waiting for the lake to freeze I suppose.

Ok, the neighbor dad has just intervened, ousting the driver, and we now have successful water skiing.

Another beautiful day today, and according to the weather man we are in for some bad news this week - a heat wave!  Bad news for some, but we're ok with it.  There's a constant breeze here and it's chilly enough at night to warrant socks and long sleeves.

We have yet to do much shopping since the weather has been so nice.  There's a thrift shop not far that I'd like to peruse, and a couple pottery places I'd like to look in as well, but it's difficult to drag ourselves from the beach.  Everything closes here at 5pm, so you have to go during prime swimming time.  Maybe tomorrow...  or maybe if I could drag myself out of bed before 10...

Well Josh is back with the paper, so I have to read the funnies before we get our bathing suits on - hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
