November 2, 2008

Well Jesse is sound asleep in his big boy bed. I had to take his mattress out of the crib to change the sheet so figured I would give the bed another try. He wasn't really into the idea and said he wanted "that bed" pointing at his crib. I told him it was broken and pointed. "Broken? What do we do?" he asked. I explained that I guess he'd better sleep in his vroom vroom bed. He still wasn't quite buying it, and asked several more times. But eventually, and with the help of his stuffed puppy from build-a-bear, I coaxed him into his bed and he stayed there without tears. So now to see if he stays there all night!

The kids had a great time trick-or-treating. We practiced at home. At first Jesse did not understand why he didn't get to EAT the candy right away, and this was NOT ok with him. But after a bit he got the idea. So he did pretty well and made a really freakin' cute Dumbo! I swear that is the cutest costume ever. Jocelyn already knew the drill. She fell at one house coming down the front stairs but held it together because she wanted to keep going. So we went out for a while, the little ones in the wagon, and then I pulled what was a heavier and heavier wagon up the hill home, got the kids out of their costumes, and gave everyone some candy. Holy moly was I spent! Oh, and at the first couple houses, at saying trick or treat, Jocelyn shouted "wow - you have a lot of candy!" haha

Thursday morning I worked from home so that I could go to Jocelyn's school to take pictures of her and her class in their costumes. She was sleeping beauty for school (the JoJo costume is too warm). We brought Jesse in his Dumbo costume and he was SO excited that we got to walk down the hallway and into the classroom. Jocelyn and Madison both greeted him and he was ecstatic! Miss Dana asked if he wanted to come stand with the class for the pictures and he jumped right in. He stood where he was told and said cheese on command. Afterwards he went and sat himself up to the table (across the room - Josh and I stayed closer to the doorway) and Madison and Jocelyn joined him. They sat there and had a little conversation about who knows what and then the three of them held hands and walked out to the car. Jesse just couldn't have been happier - he's so ready for school!

Timothy had basketball try-outs yesterday. Josh came home and said "well, he's not the slowest!' Turns out he's the 2nd slowest - haha. But Josh said he was at least average in dribbling and shooting. I think everyone makes a team, so assume that he will. I think he'll enjoy it, and for me - it's inside and there are bleachers, so that works!

Note home from Morgan's teacher from Friday said that he did his pumpkin project (toilet paper roll wrapped with orange fabric with paper bag stuff in one end) taking direction only from his friend Mallory and with no help or direction from the para. He also brought home an original self portrait (that I can order various items with the artwork imprinted) that resembles an actual person! A pretty cute one at that!
