Well it's a Christmas Miracle - we managed to fit all the trash into the bins for pick-up yesterday! Thank you Uncle Rob who was in charge of crushing the wrapping paper!
We had such a fun holiday! The kids are always so well behaved together and I think we got more sleep collectively this year than any other Christmas Eve! Of course, I personally didn't get much because my other roommates were horrible snorers, but such is life.
Many new games for Christmas Eve this year, plus a couple old reliables. New this year - concentration for the kids, Not-So-Newlyweds for the couples, and Price is Right for everyone. The kids, especially the older kids, really look forward to the games.
Santa made an appearance, emerging from our upstairs bedroom (where he came down the chimney of course). The story of Jocelyn and Santa was the best one. When Santa fell from the chimney and made a big noise, all the adults were like "what was that?! must be santa!" When Jocelyn heard it might be Santa she RAN while yelling "I LOVE SANTA! WHERE'S SANTA?!" She jumped up and hugged him, and hugged him more when he sat down. Then she looked at him and said "you have Uncle Joey's mouth". We snuck Joey back out and waited a bit and then he came in for Hanukkah. Jocelyn told him all about how he missed Santa. Then later when I put Jocelyn to bed I was telling her in the morning there would be the presents Santa leaves and she got all excited and said "will Santa be here?" So I explained he just leaves the presents and doesn't stay. And she says "when Uncle Joey is Santa, he comes over".
I wonder if Jesse would have known, had he not been too scared to make eye contact.
After creating a storm of wrapping paper and cardboard boxes Christmas morning, everyone escaped to their other plans and Josh and I overlooked the damage. You could see spots of flooring, so we knew it was still under there somewhere. We waited until Friday to clean up and turned out it wasn't quite as bad as we thought it would be.
Saturday we had some friends over with their two girls, one a bit older than Jocelyn and one a bit younger. Jocelyn started talking the minute they came in and didn't stop until they left. I think she scared the girls!
Jocelyn's favorite gift was a black velour leotard which caused her to strip to her birthday suit in the middle of gift opening and put it on that second. She's still got it on now. It's taken one spin through the wash when she had an accident, so she wore her new dress from Grandpa during that time, but back to the leotard when it was cleaned. Each night I force her out of it into pjs, each morning I find her with the leotard on again.
We got a Wii Fit, or rather I got it, and it is so fun! I started out at Wii Fit age 45 and have gotten down to age 31 - woo hoo! In fact, time to go play some more ...
