Timothy got his first report card with real grades today. He got two B+s and the rest a variety of As. I think there are 7 or 8 subjects today including PE and Music (both of which he got A+s in). For music the teacher told him he has a nice voice and wants him to come check out the after school chorus they have. The comments mostly said great class participation. I'm one proud mom!
Everyone has been sick here but Timothy. I worked at home most of last week with some kind of stomach bug and then head cold. Jocelyn and Jesse are both running fevers with a cough, and Jesse had coughing fits on Saturday that resulted in him throwing up twice. I give him credit, he was *trying* to get to the bathroom both times but just didn't make it. Last night was bad for him and he kept coming into my room with a sad pout saying he needed more medicine, a drink of water, an extra blanket. Eventually I just let him get in bed with me and he slept fairly well after that, though the snoring was distracting!
Poor Jocelyn has been going through a box of kleenex every night (tossing them off the bed into a nice mountain to be picked up each morning). She hasn't been to school since last Wednesday, or maybe it was Tuesday. I guess I've lost track. Now Morgan has it too and was home today. He's also got a low grade fever and has lost part of his voice so he sounds all squeaky. His cough sounds the worst. With Jocelyn and Jesse it's like a hacking dry cough. Morgan's is wetter and throatier. So far he's not slowed down too much though, where as Jesse and Jocelyn have both gone back to napping.
We had a really nice Thanksgiving weekend. We went up to Mandy's for Thanksgiving dinner - yum! The kids all followed Timothy around and played really nicely together. Then Susan and Jonathan and Jeremy arrived Friday and spent the weekend, also very nice. Susan did all the cooking (and photography of course!) except the turkey which Joey made. S&J brought a remote control car for the kids, which I don't think stopped being driven around the entire weekend - boy was that a hit! Even Morgan really liked it, and he's super hard to shop for!
Timothy had his first basketball game this past Saturday. His team is a bit better than last year, meaning that they lead for part of the game before losing. Still, Timothy played 3 quarters and scored 6 points out of the 16 total for his team (they lost by 2 at the end). He's the tallest on his team, and though the slowest, really tries very very hard and has improved quite a bit. Plus he really likes it. Josh went to the game alone but next week thinks he'll bring Jesse with him. Jocelyn went with me once last year but really wasn't that interested.
Timothy also had his chorus performance this week. He had auditioned for one of the "specialty" parts (10 kids had a special part in one of the songs) and got it, which he was quite proud of. The chorus is pretty good (it's just 6th graders) but the song choices were awkward. I didn't recognize any of the songs and I think one might have been in a different language. I had to sit through the orchestra too, and a set change, but I brought a Dilbert cartoon book to keep me occupied, so I'm sure everyone in the auditorium was wondering why I was giggling so much.
Hanukkah starts Friday night - yay for presents!
