Well, it just wasn't the Lessards' day.
Morgan's bus was supposed to be here at 8:10. It was a half hour late (school starts by then!). When I finally gave up waiting for it (with my camera) and ran down to see Timothy (whose bus was scheduled for 8:37), I just missed Timothy getting on the bus. By the time I ran (seriously, RAN) to our house, I had just missed Morgan getting on the bus. Josh had to leave at 8:45 to get Jocelyn to preschool, so Jesse had to go in his PJs as there was no time to change. Luckily we had gotten Jocelyn dressed beforehand! (Jesse had picked this day of all days to change his usual wake up time from 6am to 8:20 and Timothy had brought him out in his PJs on the way to the bus).
Josh had so many errands to run that by the time he got home, changed Jesse, went and ran errands, and got home, he got all of 20 minutes before he had to leave to pick up Jocelyn.
Picking up Jocelyn, the teacher said to Josh "Well, she mostly had a good day" but then held out a stuffed tomato that shook and sang to show Josh and he right away knew she must have freaked out at that since 2nd only to her fear of bugs is her fear of anything stuffed that moves or talks. Poor teacher thought she was showing her something special and managed to cause her to have a complete meltdown. (On the plus side, Josh was the only parent who did the arrival/departure procedure correctly, since he had done it before).
When they got home I was on a call and heard Jocelyn chattering away, but by the time I got off the call she was done talking about it and only wanted to re-live the scary stuffed tomato experience.
When Morgan got home he was sniffling, sneezing, and crying and the helper said his allergies must be acting up. (ya think?). He was fine when we sent him this morning, so no idea what that could be. We loaded him up with claritin and other drugs I fished out of the cabinet, but he's still been crying all afternoon and finally just got put to bed at 6pm.
Timothy didn't get home until close to 5. They put him on the wrong bus (assuring him it was the right one when he pointed out that he had arrived on bus 9 so why go home on bus 26) and while it dropped him in the right neighborhood, it was a pretty good walk from where they dropped him to our house, so Josh has to call the office tomorrow.
The last hour is a bit of a blur with what seemed like way too long stretches of time where at least 3 kids were crying. Everyone is finally settled down to Max & Ruby, with Morgan in bed and Timothy doing his homework. We're hoping for a better day tomorrow!
