March 9, 2008

Another busy day has gotten away from me, and with one hour missing! eek! Luckily Jesse still went to bed at normal time tonight - go figure! He was exhausted from obsessing about his balloon (now pronounced BANOON) all day despite the fact that it hasn't floated since he woke up this morning.

So to back up a bit, we went to MA yesterday to have a belated February birthday celebration. Jocelyn was in her element with the present opening! Poor Morgan took a bad fall coming down a ladder and was VERY sad. It was heart breaking! He has an amazing pain threshold, so I knew it must have really hurt. It was his nose that he bumped. It only bled a little and it's scabbed on the skin. Today it's a little swollen but not too bad.

Jesse spent the whole time obsessing about all the balloons and someone SOMEONE gave him two to take home so we've heard about nothing else. Seriously, the kid needs to be medicated.

Timothy loved the whole day because, well, Timothy loves every dayl This morning I made him come with me to Walgreens because I had some coupons that could only be used one per transaction so I gave him his own basket, money, and coupons and made him stand in line with me. He thought it was awesome and wants to come again next week.

So Jocelyn learned a couple things this week. Let me start from the beginning. Thursday night I put her to bed as usual and was downstairs playing pass with Jesse. She hadn't been in bed longer than 5 min when I heard her scream, SCREAM. In the 0.2 seconds it took me to jump to my feet and start running for her room, I figured out what must have happened. A masked robber must have broken in through her window and was now terrorizing her. I took the stairs 2 at a time. Her door was closed - not unusual since she's just this week learned to open and close doors so she's been doing it a lot. I opened it and jumped over the gate. It was dark. Her screams enveloped the room such that I couldn't find her until my eyes adjusted a little. Then I saw her in the corner holding the end of the lamp cord. I grabbed her up and smelled her, thinking she had electrocuted herself, as I carried her to the hallway so I could see her. She didn't smell of burning flesh or anything. I looked at her hands and they looked fine. Finally got her calmed down enough to get her to tell me what's wrong. "It's DARK!" she says. "Jocelyn is scared of the dark! Jocelyn touched the black and then it dark. I scared! I scared of the dark!"

I feel bad because usually there is a pack'n'play in front of that outlet but I had moved it to Timothy's room when Mandy & family were here last weekend and hadn't gotten around to putting it back yet. I explained that as long as she didn't touch it, the light would be fine, and that if she left her door open she would be able to see the light in the hallway, and then we turned on her TV as extra protection Still, it took a good 10 minutes to calm her down. She just clung to me as I rocked her, and repeated "I scared, I scared the dark. Jocelyn is scared the dark. Leab a light ON"

Poor Jocelyn, it was so sad. She learned a few things the hard way - a) when you unplug a light, it goes out, and b) she's afraid of the dark. Funny thing is she's never been afraid of the dark before. In fact she's been closing herself in closets all week with her new found door opening skill. (Unfortunately, she's also been closing Jesse in closets, and generally being mean to him, but that's another story).

I'm taking the day off tomorrow except that I have to take a call at 11 am and 4pm, but other than that - totally off - haha. I hit Walgreen's and Stop & Shop today and will do CVS and Shaw's tomorrow and be done for the week. My big deals of the week so far are the 2 shampoos and 2 conditioners I got at Walgreen's for $1.08 (reg price $17.16) and 20 yoplaits at Stop & Shop for $4 (reg price $16). If I thought we could eat 40 yoplaits before they expired, I'd go back and get another 20. I wonder if I can freeze them ...

Jesse is pushing the limits of his pajamas - both height wise and belly wise. Of course, they are 12 month size - haha. I also noticed today that I've still got him in month 3-6 month onsies - those things stretch! Anyway, I need the weather to hurry up and warm up! I had to cut the feet off a pair of footsies the other day because it looked painful.

Well I guess that's about it from here. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
