Jocelyn was supposed to start preschool on Monday, which of course means that she woke up at 4am and threw up. Sigh. So she missed her very first day of preschool. But she did get to go on Wednesday and loved it. Josh said she was quiet on arrival and tentative, but when he picked her up he could see her through the window and she was sitting on the teacher's lap (and when I say teacher, I mean high school student). I asked her what she did and she said she saw girls and used scissors. She was VERY excited about the scissors! She's been watching me cut coupons and even got ahold of my scissors and managed to cut a whole bunch of Timothy's yugio cards up into pieces before she was found out. So at school they cut yarn and that made her happy. We got a printout of what they had done that day (and why, which was cute - i.e. scissors to work on fine motor, etc).
Josh used the time Jocelyn was at school to go over to Big Y and buy 6 Ibs of butter, 2 toothbrushes, and a 6 pack of beer. He said he felt a little weird! But the butter was buy 1 get 2 and I had 3 coupons for $1 off 2, then the toothbrushes were buy 1 get 1 and I had a buy 1 get 1 coupon, so they were both free! The beer, well, that wasn't on special.
Jesse continues to have pretty gross boogies but otherwise is fine. He talks constantly. Last night we went on a family drive up to Enfield (I was 4 points short of a free $20 at Shaw's so I posted on freecyde and found someone who had 4 extra and since Josh didn't want me going alone, we all packed up and went! Of course, it counts as a family activity in this family - haha) and Jesse talked the WHOLE TIME. It's hysterical. Right now he's got a Boston accent - car is cah. He's almost learned to jump, which he practices regularly. I think he *thinks* he is coming off the ground, but not quite. I got a good picture of it yesterday when we all went outside to play (hey - 2 family activities in one day!). He continues to be all boy - running into things and falling down on purpose are his favorite activities next to throwing balls and driving cars while saying VROOM VROOM.
Timothy went to Shaw's with me today (to spend our turkey points) and while I'm standing there in the cereal aisle seeing if there are any good deals (I now refuse to pay more than $1.50 for our favorite cereals or $1 for other cereals) he comes up to me and says "hey mom - do you have a coupon for gatorade? Because I see the sign that says they are 10 for $10 and that's a pretty good price ... " <insert sheepish smile here>. Ok, I say, just one. Gatta give him credit for knowing how to get what he wants! It's so funny because as long as I can remember he has always chosen beverages as his treats - soda, gatorage, snapple, etc. Never does he want chocolates or candy, always a beverage. And he calls it a beverage and always has. Too funny.
Morgan had a so so week. Nothing really to write about. An eFriend of mine is concerned about her 3 year old and took an online assessment and sent it to me to ask what I thought of it (it's at http://www.chiidbrain.com/pddassess.htmlin case anyone wants to see it). I took it for the 3 oldest, 49 is the cutoff for no pdd vs. potential pdd. Timothy got a 19 but if I scored it for the way he was when he was 3, he would have gotten a 45. Morgan got 170 (and that was being generous as I was pretty much marking everything severe and started to round favorably after a while) and Jocelyn got a 2. I've got quite a broad spectrum on my hands! I tried to take it for Jesse but he's just too young. My gut says he's fine though.
Not much for grocery news other than the toothbrushes. No coupons on Easter - big bummer - but it freed me up to spend the weekend re-organizing my couponing system. I now have a binder with tabs by category and each product has its own slot of a baseball card holder page. Goal is to take it with me to drug stores and Target and hit the clearance aisles. Made finding the coupons much easier this morning! I had a coupon for a grocery store I don't go to for $10 off $100 that I was able to use at Stop & Shop today because they take competitor coupons - yay! Oh, and while Timothy and I were searching for the Friendly's To Go cups today that were on special, we came across ice cream on clearance!! Fancy stuff - like Ben & Jerry's ice cream cones and Edy's Dippers and Friendly's ice cream cakes! All marked at either $1 or $2!! (ok, the Friendly'S cakes were $5, but that's still really good!). I was hoping to find Easter candy on clearance today as I had some coupons expiring, but I guess not until tomorrow - oh well, I need more candy like I need more kids! hahaha
Timothy and I met up with Mandy, Ruby, Elisabeth, and mom for lunch yesterday. Timothy said it was the greatest idea ever and we should do it every month. Boy, give the kid an angus burger and he'll love you forever! (yup, he orders from the adult menu now). I figure 2 years maybe before he's taller than grandma. They already have the same size feet!
I guess that's about it from here. We got our tax return Friday so got to be rich for the weekend but tomorrow it'll clear out the rest of the bills. Oh well, fun while it lasted!
