Another eventful week in the ol' Lessard house. Let's see if I can recall it better working backwards.
Today Josh and Timothy went into NYC to meet up with Jonathan and Susan and I believe Jeremy for part. This left me home with the three trouble makers! Jocelyn and Jesse and I spent the morning doing a deep clean of Jocelyn's room - that includes taking everything out of the closet and drawers and shelves and then putting back what fits and/or is played with. A bunch of books made it out into Morgan and Jesses' rooms, some footed pjs got passed down, shelves got rearranged, etc. Boy did they have a good time playing with all the new toys that had been hiding in the back of her closet! It took us pretty much all morning but they both loved it the whole time.
Then we had lunch and I put Jesse down for a nap and put a movie on for Jocelyn and cut Morgan off of the computer (not something he was happy about!). I actually had to unplug the computer keyboard and take it in the other room because he can plug it back in (news to me!).
We went outside for a bit in the afternoon (after I matched up 3 weeks worth of socks during rest time) and then I made french toast for dinner. Morgan ate a few small bites in order to earn his french fries. Jocelyn was sitting eating and suddenly shouted out "I love my dinner!" So we called Daddy and Timothy to tell them how Mommy managed to pull off french toast without burning down the kitchen.
After dinner and kitkats was baths and PJs and then Ruby and Max and then bed. I put Morgan to bed too, because if he asked me for the computer one more time I was going to have a fit, so bed seemed safer. I caught a glimpse of him actually reading some of the books that had made their way into his room from Jocelyn's room today. He loves those obnoxious ones with the buttons you press that make noise. Anyway, that might entertain him for a few days anyway. Maybe I just need to get a rotation and change which books are in there daily.
Ok so yesterday. Yesterday Mandy and Elisabeth and families came by for dinner (and pictures of course!). They all played nicely as usual. I think the only physical incident was when Patience was mad at Mandy and decided to take it out at Jesse, which was actually pretty funny. The kids were even sports about having their pictures taken!
Then comes Friday. I took Friday off seeing as I had some PTO to burn as I forgot to take enough since I changed jobs (go figure!). In the morning I took Jocelyn and Jesse to the mall where we did some holiday shopping and then hit "the bear store" (build a bear). Jocelyn picked a ridiculous pink bear and dressed it in an Ariel costume - it's horrid! But she loves it. Jesse didn't really care to pick at all - he was just happy to be out of the stroller and was pushing the stroller around the store. I picked a puppy on his behalf. He did stop long enough to watch it get stuffed and cheer when it was handed to him - then put the puppy in the stroller and pushed that around the store while Jocelyn and I picked out the clothes.
The rest of the week is duller. I went to work, the kids went to school. Oh yeah, Jesse got a bug bite on his eyelid and that pretty much swelled his eye shut. It was huge enough that Josh actually stopped by the doctor after dropping Jocelyn at school to see what they thought of it. The nurse said it looked like a bug bite. The doctor called later to say we could give him benedryl (the one drug I don't have!) and as long as he had no fever and there was no hard spot or discharge, it was fine. It went away in a couple days - just in time for pictures.
Jocelyn's class got to see the fire truck at school on Wednesday. Tuesday night I asked her if she was going to get on the fire truck, and she said "yes, I'm going to save a kitten". Hee hee.
Oh and Timothy had a tooth pulled on Tuesday and did fine. It was a baby tooth that hadn't been knocked out by the permanent tooth that came in behind it. Then Wednesday was picture day at school, so I hope he didn't smile too big since it was one of the little ones right next to the front teeth!
I guess that's about it. We don't get tomorrow off but I'm taking it off. The kids will all be home so maybe the weather will hold out and we can go to the park or something.
I can't get over the repeated evidence of how super organized and efficient you are. Is your whole family really good at time management?
ReplyDeleteyou know, it's not time management. It's corner cutting. We are a family of non-perfectionists, and things move faster for us because we're happy with close-enough and move on.
