Happy 6th Birthday Timothy!

We just got back from Timothy's bowling birthday party about an hour ago. Timothy is asleep on the couch - which happened about 30 seconds after we got home. He had such a great time and I think the party was a big success. Isabel and Jordan fought over who was going to marry him while the other boys wrestled on the bench waiting for their turn to bowl. Bowling was duck pin which looked fun and now I want to try it! Timothy got a spare (it was bumper bowling) at least once, and one little boy got a strike. Then there was pizza and cake for all (both the girls had seconds on cake - the boys barely finished theirs - hmmm).

Opening presents seemed to be the MOST exciting activity for ALL! Each kid was going to just jump out of their skin if Timothy didn't open their gift RIGHT THAT SECOND. We played stick the spider on spider man and then just as the last kid was being spun around, all the parents walked in as if they had come together - perfect timing! The kids were thrilled with their goodie bags (it just doesn't take much does it?) and Timothy was an excellent gift opener - making a big deal about how much he wanted each thing. Isabel gave him a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses, so my mom whispers (6 years old and she's dressing him already!). They were just all adorable - spastic, but adorable.

The bowling alley was pretty much empty except for us, which was also nice, so we could really spread out. The kids did pretty well taking turns bowling, though had a VERY hard time sitting on the bench to wait for their turn. Still, no fights and no tears - so a great day!

My dad and Josh stayed home with Morgan while mom and I were at the party.  Dad wrote me later to say:

On our drive home today, your mom asked me what the best part of my day.  Well, ‘round about 11 or so, I took the newspaper outside on the back deck to read and sit in the sun. After a bit, Morgan came out and wandered around for a few minutes; I continued to sit and read. Then he came over and sort of settled into my lap, face out. For the next ten minutes we proceeded to touch each other's ears, and face, and hair and all that. He didn't say anything, so I didn't either. I even got a few voluntary smooches in there somewhere. When my legs finally started to cramp (he was sitting on them!), I got him on his feet and we went in. That was the best part of my day.

Timothy LOVED all the cards he got for his birthday. He read every one of them, every word. Of course he especially loved the ones where money fell out.
