Got to go see Morgan's classroom yesterday - it's so nice! The classrooms at Wapping are big and open with high ceilings and lots of windows very nice. (Timothy's classrooms have been very cramped at PRS). He sits at a desk in a group of 5 desks. I met his teacher who was super nice and talked about how excited she was to have him in her class. Then I went to the special room and saw his cubicle where he has his own Toshiba laptop computer loaded with educational software that allows him to do both reading and math assignments. She walked me through some of them and what he can do is pretty impressive!

For example the computer tells him to read the three sentences (The car is green. The sign says stop. something something) and then click the blue box. When he clicks it, there's a picture of a green car and he has to match it to the correct sentence. There are 8 questions per *unit* and he has to get all 8 right to move on, else it starts over. Once he gets them all right, a little picture of a kid raising his hand shows up on the screen and it says "please call your teacher" and the teacher advances him to the next one.

She says he LOVES it - which he must because he's already done 52 units!! Similar situation for math. He's been spending the mornings in his regular classroom and then he's so tired in the afternoon that he can't make it, so he comes back and does the computer for a while. He still has specials (music, art, whatever) and recess with his class. It was nice to get to see where he goes every day!
