Jocelyn laughed in her sleep last night. I know, I know - you say - that's not possible - she can't even smile yet! Well, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't witnessed it either. She was wrapped in a blanket and propped up on a pillow on the couch and was having a snooze, Josh was just coming down the stairs from putting the boys to bed, We suddenly hear this big forced sigh and look over to find Jocelyn with a huge grin on her face, She repeats the forced sigh two more times, complete with smile, and then it's over. It was hysterical!

Of course, she's quite smart already and has been creating little games for us to play at night, in case I get bored I suppose. One is called "am I really hungry" and it's where she wakes up and cries briefly and I have to decide if she's hungry or just wanting to be pulled closer as she has gotten lonely being 18 whole inches away from me. If she is actually hungry, it's usually followed by a game of "am I really eating" (aka using Mommy as a human pacifier without her consent). She makes the rules and reserves the right to change them at any time, so she's beating me by a considerable margin as you can imagine.

It's been a rough week here (again). I got a bad cold on Wednesday and Morgan got it Thursday only much worse and we had to take him to the doctor and he's got croup and an upper respiratory infection. Then Josh got it yesterday. So we're all miserable.

I was doing alright on Advil and Sudafed, but my lactation consultant tells me Sudafed will dry up my milk supply (which is the last thing I need) and so now I'm off the Sudafed and have a pretty stuffy head. Josh and I are both taking Echinacea, which is probably why we didn't get it as bad as Morgan. Poor kid - he was so sad! He had a fever of 102 and didn't even have the energy to walk. He's feeling MUCH better now.

So far Timothy has avoided it, but really it's just a matter of time…

Took Jocelyn for her 2 week appt yesterday (which was really strange because for the first time ever we didn't have to wait - there was NO ONE in the waiting room so we went right back and had 3 office ladies (2 nurses and a receptionist?) coo over Jocelyn while she got weighed, then we waited in the office for about 3 minutes until the doctor came in - that never happens! I asked why it was so quite and the nurse said she had no idea but they'd had several cancellations. Too bad Morgan didn't hold out an extra day - he had to wait an hour when he went in on Thursday).

She's up to 7lbs 5 oz, which didn't sound like enough gain to me but the doctor said it was fine, that his only goal is to have them back up to their birth weight by 2 weeks old. I explained how she's only having 2 or 3 poopy diapers a day, but he said as long as she's wetting enough, that's fine (and she is - she's a queen peer). He suggested beer for increased milk supply (cousin Peter had suggested Guinness, but not sure I can stomach that!), but I've got to get better first.

Before Morgan got sick we got another good report on his week at school. In fact, I think this story is cute enough to share, so here's the note from his teacher (it’s from Miss Dana from last year who is still has him in her room for parts of the day):

Just wanted to let you know that Morgan has been having some really great days! He's doing very well, and has made a nice transition back to a full week of school this week! He's been very happy and compliant! He's also been quite talkative in my room! Today he was sitting next to Jillian at circle and it was Jillian's turn to give Morgan a hi-5 (the kids turn to the person next to them and give a hi-5 and say "hi "). So, Morgan turned to Jillian and said, "Give hi-5" to her because she wasn't doing it right away. Then after they did the hi-5, he said, "Say Hi Morgan", telling Jillian to say hi to him!! After she did so, he told her "Good job"! It was very cute, and quite appropriate!
