Greetings all! Seems I have missed a week - life is just going by so fast these days.

So last week Josh started telling Timothy some bible stories. Saturday morning Timothy was summarizing for me - saying how God told Cain he had to walk the earth, and his kids had to walk the earth, and his kids' kids had to walk the earth. Then he looked at me and said "and Mommy, they couldn't even drive!"

I had Timothy's parent teacher conference this week. What an ego boost!

She actually said that he makes the classroom a better place just by being there and repeated over and over how happy she was that she got him and not another teacher. Academically he is doing fantastic, with story writing and reading comprehension being his only struggles - but he's still doing average, so he's not behind or anything. His handwriting and spelling, which were weaknesses last year, are now fine, and math continues to be a strength (gee, wonder where he gets that). He got a 44 on the standardized practice test they did - with the goal being a 24 at the beginning of the year and a 34 at the end of the year.

I think the funniest thing she said was that sometimes she makes sarcastic jokes or comments in class and the whole class except Timothy doesn't get it but she always hears Timothy giggle - so it's like they share little private jokes. She said she's never seen a child this age read with such expression and she often uses him as an example for the class. She also said he's nice to everyone and seems to get along with everyone, which makes me happy. She basically gushed about him for nearly 60 minutes and she really sincerely seems to adore him - very sweet.

Jocelyn moved up from army crawling to regular crawling this week, which is just too cute. She sees the doctor on Monday for her 9 month appt. I think this one she doesn't have to get shots, so that will be nice.

Timothy and I saw the dentist yesterday. He had to have x-rays for the first time, which turned out to be a challenge and involved some tears. He would NOT open his mouth and keep it open - so it took FOREVER to get the film in there. Eventually I had to hold his chin down and his head up with a lot of force - my goodness! The second one went much faster. Then only one of them came out, but she agreed to do the other one the next time. His 6 year molars are in and need sealants, but neither of us was sure he could keep his mouth open for the required 2 minutes. When she was cleaning his teeth she had to keep reminding him to open his mouth too. Not sure what the deal was - he's never had a problem before. Anyway, no cavities for either of us, so that was good. We go back in July.

I need to get Morgan to the dentist but still haven't. Bad, I know. At least he now lets me brush his teeth every night - but that means he opens his mouth and I have about 3 seconds to jam the toothbrush in and out before he closes up again, and then we repeat until I've made a half-assed attempt at most of his teeth. Still, grand improvement.

Not much else going on. Jocelyn and I are meeting a coworker and her 8 month old son at the new mall today to do a little holiday shopping. I've made significant progress in the last 2 weeks and am almost done. Timothy has a birthday party at noon - which I just realized I didn't buy a gift for, so I'll have to unwrap one of his Hanukah gifts and get a replacement later.
