It's the most wonderful time, of the year...
The boys went back to school this week. Tuesday we had the meet and greets - I went to Timothy's school and brought Jocelyn with me (in the stroller - no expecting that there would be stairs all over the place and no ramps!) and Josh went to Morgan's. Morgan's kindergarten teacher has been trying to adopt a baby and recently received notice that she would be receiving an 8 month old girl - in TWO HOURS! So she is taking the month of September off to adjust.
Morgan's bus comes at 8: 12, supposedly (so far more like 8:30) and Timothy's at 8:45 - though Timothy has to walk to the end of the street. It's nice though as there are so many kids in this neighborhood that bus only goes in this neighborhood! There are a bunch of stops and a bunch of kids at each stop.
Morgan screamed most of his first day from what his special ed teacher wrote (Mrs Freitas), but did much better on Thursday and Friday. It was nice though, she asked about his routine and what activities he liked and so I told her and so she did those and then he had a better day - go figure! I really like her.
Timothy seems to be adjusting well and knew several kids in his class from playing t-ball. He already came home with one kid's phone number saying that he wanted to invite him over. His teacher (Mrs. Saidi) wrote a note home on Friday saying she was glad he came to this school and he had a great week - how nice is that? Timothy's class at PRS is much more diverse than Eli Terry, and we think that's so great. The school is also more outdated, though all elementary schools look about the same. It's big - with 4 of each grade (except 5 3rd grades) and 20-25 kids in each. Wow! Eli Terry only had 2 of each grade. There is no regular homework for 2nd grade - which is a change from last year.
Timothy also got to spar at karate this week. I finally broke down and bought him a cup (which I had to buy online because it's impossible to find a youth cup around here) and so he got to spar on Friday. Josh watched him from outside and said it was hysterical - a couple of flailing kids who only by coincidence managed to hit or kick each other.
Jocelyn's up on her knees and elbows regularly but not crawling yet. She WANTS to, but just can't coordinate. Shouldn't be long though.
The CT Governor is collecting supplies to send to the gulf and will be flying them down. A few people at work are coordinating a drop off so I'm going to run out and get some stuff this weekend. I'm sure they need formula and diapers, so that's what I'll pick up. They also need blankets but I think I have some extras around here that I can just donate.
