I started in my new job (or rather in my new department) this week, so it was a rather hectic week and I sort of forgot what it's like to just be confused all the time. But hey, it can't last forever - I hope! I saw the doctor Monday afternoon and was down a couple more pounds, but then the rest of this week I seem to have put an end to that! I blame the Halloween candy that Josh bought way too early. Anyway, baby sounded good and next time I can have a flu shot. I'm trying to convince Josh to get one, and to get one for the boys, but he's not so easy to talk into doctor trips. Still, it's a good habit to get into.
Timothy has one page of homework every day, always math homework during the week and spelling/writing on the weekend. At Open House the teacher told us the lessons have to do with what they learned that day/week, so it's fun to get to see what Timothy is learning about. He's had to count all the clocks and make tally marks, and count all the thermometers and get pictures of things that tell temperatures and stuff like that. One day last week he had to count by 1s, 5s, 10s, and 20s and then backwards by those starting from some number. Not much of a challenge for him, but that's ok. He started counting by 1s and when he got to 110, he stopped (that's where their number grid stops). He started to write down the highest number he counted to but I stopped him.
“Then what?” I asked.
“No, it's ok Mommy, we can stop there,” he says.
“No way,” I say, “keep going”.
So he counted a while more and stopped again.
“Then what?” I asked.
“Mommy!”
So he counted for a while more and stopped again, and I made him keep going. Then around 300 I told him he could stop but he kept going anyway, now thinking it was just about the funniest thing he'd ever done and barely being able to get the numbers out because he was laughing so hard. He made it to 373 before he was simply laughing too hard to keep counting, so that's where he stopped. With the 5s, 10s, and 20s he also counted to somewhere in the 300s. Not such a marketable skill, but he had a good time.
Morgan's learned to flush the toilet, which Josh found him doing repeatedly the other day, so we're back to keeping the bathroom doors closed at all times. The potty training has been going pretty well, and at school he's generally dry when they take him to the bathroom. We've still left the pull-ups on him because otherwise he just can't seem to keep his hands off himself, which would be a little distracting at school! But at home he's been wearing underwear.
I thought I was being so good by drinking Crystal Lite iced tea everyday because it said caffeine free, but yesterday I read more closely and it said caffeine free except iced teas - whoops! So it turns out I've been having a big ol' cup of caffeine every afternoon. And I was trying to be good! Ah well.
We need to get a bureau we have in the basement moved up to the bedroom so we can put away Jocelyn's clothes. Between gifts from the grandmas (and Jane) and hand-me-downs from Mandy, we've got a pretty good collection going. I need to go through the 0-3 and 3-6 month stuff I saved from the boys and see how much like a boy I'm willing to dress her, and then take inventory. I tried crocheting a sweater this week but first of all (I finished everything but the sleeves) it turned out HUGE (seriously, it would have fit Morgan pretty easily) and second of all it barely resembled a sweater at all (though I could have altered the pattern to be a wrap around of some sort). So I decided to leave the sweater making to the great-grandmas and tossed it. I'm sticking to hats and blankets instead. I've decided to do her crib in red and white (pink would just clash way too much with the primary colors I have in there for the boys), and since great-grammy Lessard has agreed to make the white blanket with red ribbing, I'm going to go get some red yarn and crochet a complimentary blanket.
The faucet upstairs has had it and needs to be replaced, so I may try to figure that out this weekend as well. Somewhere around here I've got a home repair book ... It used to hold one of our windows open, but now I'm not sure where it's gone to.
I'm just about at the 5 month mark in this pregnancy, and look like I could deliver any day - I'm HUGE! I've been taking a profile shot every other week since 17 weeks and the transformation is pretty extreme.
