April 8, 2006

We had Morgan's PPT this week - and he had his triennial assessment done. For language his receptive language is now at 3 years 7 months but his expressive language is at 2 years 4 months, so the total is 2 years 10 months. Still, we're happy with the progress. I think when it was done 3 years ago he was at 15 months and 9 months respectively, and the 9 months was probably because he couldn't go much lower. Anyway, he's made 2 years' progress in 3 years, and they are the 2 big language years. Also, on the receptive stuff he was able to do some tasks at the 5 year level, just not enough to pass at that level. For the expressive he was only able to do tasks at the 3 year 6 month level.

He's kicking butt on all the academic stuff and is ahead of the class in knowing his letter sounds and sight words - in fact he got to lead the class in saying the sight words this week, which they say he liked very much. Appears that he really likes to be the special helper and be in front of the class - he didn't get that from me!

His latest thing is having to touch the wall while he walks down the hallway, so I had to admit that I still do this. In fact, I touch all the cubicles on my way into my office each morning. I see that I'm doing it, and think that it's a bit odd, but I do it anyway.

Goals for next year are mostly language related since he's not having trouble keeping up with academics. Then the OT is going to work with him on stuff like being able to open his juice box and lunch items on his own, etc etc. That will be nice.

Timothy and I have started to think about his birthday party. I think we may just go back to Chuck E. Cheese's this year again - it was so nice and easy last year!

Jocelyn can now get up on the couch and give me a heart attack as she walks back and forth across it. She's fallen off several times but gets right back up. At one point she was making me so nervous that I took her down, to which she responded with a full out throw herself down on the floor tantrum for about 60 seconds, then just turned around and got back on the couch. Oyoyoy - I gave up and just decided to look the other way.

My doctor's office called and said they have an OB starting on 5/2 and want me to come back - so I think I probably will because I haven't been looking forward to going back to the big practice. I was at with the boys.

We are going down to Philly on Wednesday for Passover. We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott with the pool - woo hoo! We're going to have a blast as usual I bet - and something tells me Susan might get a few good pictures while we're there. Jocelyn has several pretty dresses to wear - though I haven't thought much about what the boys are wearing - doh!

It's snowing here!
