We wrote on the driveway with chalk this weekend and it was definitely easier for Morgan to handle the fat chalk than the skinny pencil. He would write his name (and did a pretty good job) but then wanted me to write the rest of the words. We did all the colors (brown was his favorite though - we wrote that several times) and I wrote a sentence for him to practice reading. That was pushing the limits a bit, but he sort of did it.
