Well, let's see. The week was pretty much the same as always. A little packing, a lot of mess. We decided on movers and are trying to get our closing scheduled so that we can book the movers for the right dates. I got what I can only assume is not the last of the paperwork into my mortgage person, but it's what they've asked for most recently.
You know what's amazing? It's amazing exactly what people will take off your yard for free. We set out our broken washing machine and a pile of other crud on Tuesday afternoon so the trash collectors would pick it up, and someone actually took the washing machine! I would think the smell alone would have deterred them, but I guess not!
They also went through the rest of our stuff (several sets of people at that) and took some of that too. So today we dragged out more crud to see if that would go, and it did! An enormous Elmo, a beyblades ring, and a few other sundries. Tomorrow I'm going to put out the broken easel, a piece of crap shelf-looking thing, and the boys' end tables where the drawers drive me nuts and see if anyone takes those!
I packed up a big box of dishes this week. I took all the clothes that Jocelyn has grown out of and used them to pack with. I'd lay down a sleeper, then a plate, then a onsie, then a plate, etc, and then zip the sleeper up over the stack. It was a perfect fit! When I ran out of zipper sleepers, I just put a snap one on top and bottom and snapped them together. I think I might have gotten a little carried away when I put all the coffee mugs into Josh's socks ... so I did the wine glasses with paper. Anyway, I got a good portion of the hutch done and into one box.
The basement is mostly packed. Just a little left to do in the utility room and then some (some?!) comics. I took the shop vac down and got the big splinters of wood up (from breaking the couch apart) and then vacuumed the part of the carpet that was showing and swiffered the other side of the basement that has no carpet. I had to go through the utility room and tape up all the rubbermaids with hand-me-down clothes in them and number them (I drew a diagram of the house and numbered all the rooms and then I'm numbering all the boxes so the movers know where to put them). Boy I have a lot of clothes!! I decided to have everything up to 18 months put in Timothy's room because he has a big walk-in closet that I can stick them in the back of and then I won't have to traipse down to the basement every 3 months (and by me, I mean Josh).
I ran out to JC Penney today to get supplies for Elisabeth’s wedding. I got Morgan's pant/shirt/vest combo, shoes for both boys, black socks for both boys, and purple ties for Morgan and Rob's nephew. To get the ties I wanted, I had to buy the purple shirts that came with them (man, there are some ugly ties for kids! These ones were the only ones I liked), and the smallest size was 8, so I bought an 8 and a 10. So in 3 years or so you can bet the boys will be wearing purple shirts and ties to something! It was a nice surprise that I was able to get everything I needed in one store - woo hoo! Josh and Timothy were going to go get measured for their tuxes, but they went to the laundromat and grocery store instead so will go get measured tomorrow.
Timothy's been invited to 2 birthday parties - one the day after his and one the next week. Luckily, I've been keeping gifts that we get doubles of, so that's what they are getting!
Timothy was kneeling down to play with Jocelyn on the floor this week and accidentally kneeled on her hand. Well, my goodness, you would have thought he'd gotten her in the eye with a hot poker! So she's screaming and he's crying because he feels so bad about it, and I'm trying to tell him it's alright, that he just scared her, but she's going on and on and on. What a girl! Eventually they both settled down. She didn't even have a red mark or anything.
Morgan loves to play with Jocelyn's musical gym so he sits there next to her and plays. She loves that!
Jocelyn's been randomly sleeping until 5am, but still sometimes gets up at 3am. She usually goes down around 9pm and I wake her up at 10 to feed her, but tonight I'm going to skip that and see what happens. At least this week the nights she woke up she ate and went back to sleep instead of wanting to play. I finally put her on her stomach for a bit today. She can really hold her head up well, though she's still wiggly, but she still hates being on her stomach, so after a few minutes she started screaming and I rolled her over to her back. She's able to take her binky out with her hands now and likes to look at it and see if she can get it back in. Usually she can't, so sucks on her hands instead, which is fine - though LOUD! She's a drool queen and her double chin gets and stays wet underneath and gets a little red from it, so we carefully wash it when she has a bath and try to get it dry but it's surprisingly difficult to get in there.
Tomorrow I hope to finish the basement and then I'm not sure what I'll do next. Perhaps some of the kitchen. There's definitely stuff in there I can do without for a few weeks. I need to make a list of things we need to buy when we first get there - like trash cans. Ours are so gross I've been tossing them as I work my way around the house. Also toothbrush holder thingys and bath mats. We hope to close Thursday afternoon or evening (the 23rd) and then if Josh and I have the energy we may go to Sam's Club and pick up that type of stuff. If we don't, we'll just stare at our new house until morning when the movers come.
Josh got a big part of the dirt left by the sewer conversion seeded this week, so I hope at least some of it takes so it looks like we made an effort. I don't REALLY care, but I like to LOOK like I care! He spent the morning toting Timothy to karate at 10:IS and then to a baseball game at 11:4S.
Ok, I've babbled on even longer than usual. It turned into quite a nice day today - hope everyone enjoyed it! I think I may try to get some sleep. Mmmmmrn sleep.
