Well I guess I'll start with the thing everyone has been asking about - no, there is no baby yet. Some of you seem rather concerned that I'm going to have this baby and keep it a secret, so let me assure you that will not be the case.
I saw the doctor on Tuesday – still 2cm and still not effaced at all. She would have set an induction date for me but I know that without a favorable cervix, it was going to take forever, and I really don't want a long labor. After the appt I did a little internet searching and there's this thing called the Bishop scale where if you score a 5 it means a darn good chance of a successful induction. Lucky for me - you get 1 point for each prior vaginal birth, so I definitely start ahead of the game. I get another point for being 2cm. If I can get to 50%, that will make 5. I go back on Tuesday - so think thinning thoughts for me!
No indication that this baby is particularly large or anything, so I think he's just not quite ready yet. I must say that I'm ready though! He dropped last weekend - quite noticeably (maybe because I was previously carrying so high?). So the whole week I've felt like my pelvis could easily split in 2 at any minute. Plus I have shooting pains down my legs - alternating back and front and my lower back is burning from the discomfort. Surprisingly, I sleep relatively well - just waking up every hour or so to turn over, but then right back to sleep again, so that's not so bad. I have trouble getting out of bed or off the couch and feel like quite an invalid at times.
Jocelyn had such a great time trick or treating! She loved her costume (a pink dragon) and kept her hood up the whole time, no problem, with a silly smile on her face. She very much enjoyed touching all the pumpkins sitting out on the stoops of all the neighbors. Timothy also had a fantastic time, of course, though Morgan wasn't really into it and got dropped back off at home early, which was just fine by him. He's had an excellent week at school, but that makes him a bigger space case at home. His principal emailed me the picture of him holding the giant python looking snake at school, which he seemed to be enjoying (but don't anyone get any ideas - we're NOT getting a snake as a pet!). I need to get it posted on the web site but just haven't gotten motivated.
Josh has been very good to me this week. I've sort of been a whiney mess so he's taken over bedtime duty and also took the kids out for a drive a couple nights just so I could have some quiet. The biggest challenge is that Jocelyn wants to climb on my belly constantly, and is not very good at taking no for an answer. She also had a couple days of a slight fever and cold this week, which put her in a less favorable mood than usual (not to mention the 4am wake up time). Aunt Marilyn got a close of this when she called during a Jocelyn meltdown last night - sorry to had to listen to that Marilyn!
