Well I got lucky this weekend and managed to work in the garden for about 2 hours each morning before it started to rain. Actually, today it's not raining, though the sun isn't out any more. But the reason I stopped today was I found a snake and well, that was a good enough sign to stop for me!
Josh did have some good advice (he did come running out when I screamed, I have to give him that) - he said "well if it rattles, stop gardening". Soooo helpful. And in another reminder of how boys are different from girls, when Timothy heard there was a snake he said WHERE??? and came running. He was practically on top of it before he found it, which didn't seem to bother him at all - he just said AWESOME and went back to playing.
I am making progress though - slowly but surely. There's a garden in front of the house on the side that was just WAY overgrown and I've been trying to get more of it out so that I can start over. It's a little more work than it looked like! My mom suggests regularly that I just poison the whole thing, but my way gets you a better workout. There are a few cute flowering bushes that I've found and are worth saving, so that's nice. And there are some BIG rocks which are also neat.
Timothy told us he got to read Superfudge in front of his class this week. He loves to read in front of the class (not my kid!) and the teacher told him that the rest of the class is learning expression because of him. Apparently he's quite a ham and goes for the laugh with a little extra emphasis here and there (ok, maybe my kid). He also did a presentation in front of the fifth grade about a project they are doing to gather supplies for service dogs (police/fire/guide dogs). I would have been terrified, but he couldn't have cared in the least.
Jocelyn had her 15 month appt this week - she weighs 20lbs 10oz and is 31 in, which puts her around the 15th percentile for weight and 75th for height! I swear we're feeding her! I joked with Josh that we're going to have to start giving her protein shakes. She HATED the shots and apparently gave the nurse a nasty glare on their way out - so I guess she can hold a grudge. Despite not being much of a talker yet she was on target with all the other developmental stuff - which is something a little new for us! Even with Timothy we only ever answered "yes" to about half the developmental questions, and with Morgan it was even fewer than that. She is starting to say words (mama, dada, hi) so the doctor is not concerned. Of course, the doctor is never concerned about anything! hee hee. He sure was surprised to hear that we're expecting again though.
Morgan had a couple good days and a couple off days this week and then on Friday Josh couldn’t get him up and out of bed so just let him stay home. Josh has had a cold and figured he was getting the same thing, but then he seemed fine.
I've been getting a little burnt out at work. I need a few days off so I decided to take June 1st and 2nd off so Josh and I can celebrate our anniversary - holy moly where did 10 years go??? We'll go out to lunch with Jocelyn or something - it'll be fun. Then I'll probably just work on the garden some more. I figure by September I'll have that part done and in the fall I can work on the stuff directly in front of the house.
