Today was picture day at Timothy's school. Josh didn't realize you had to pay first, so he had to drop Timothy off and then go get money and then go back, which was very upsetting to Morgan. Anyway, according to Timothy's teachers, he was his usual outgoing self, having the photographer slap him five, etc. I hope the pictures came out well.
This afternoon I took a half-day so we could go meet with the school system preschool people who will be providing Morgan's therapy after he turns 3. We met with a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, the preschool leader, and the therapy coordinator, plus Morgan's current 2 therapists came with us. Morgan freaked out and screamed (and I mean SCREAMED - I like to call it Ruby squared) for about 10 minutes (not to mention all the way down the hallway on the way to the room, causing various teachers to pop their heads out of doors to see if all was well). Everyone just sat in shock. The coordinator person tried to help, obviously not believing me that there was nothing to be done.
Eventually he calmed down and then was his usual gleeful self. Pending revised assessments from his current therapists, he'll be eligible (the coordinator felt certain) for four days of POP per week. POP is the Pre-school Outreach Program where half are special needs kids and half are "community models" = kids with above average language skills there to be a good influence. We got the low-down on the program (and at least he's not thrown out if he's not potty trained yet) and it sounds very nice. The OT and PT will have sessions with him each week.
When we had first gotten to the school, there were what looked like a bunch of first graders walking by in a line. Timothy got in line and was going to follow before I called him back. Then he wanted to go into the library and read books with the kids that were in there. I guess I don't have to worry about him going to kindergarten! Once we were all in the room (with Morgan screaming), the coordinator set Timothy up at the easel with some markers. He sat there the entire hour coloring, didn't say a word. Everyone commented on how wonderful he was. I had to explain that he used to scream when we went places too.
Also when we first got there and the coordinator came out and introduced herself, and we introduced ourselves, she turned to Josh and told him her maiden name was Lessard. He had no idea why she was telling him this. I had to explain to her that it was my name.
