I don't know why I can't have one night where we all get to sleep through the night - and since when do kids catch the same bug twice? Last night we woke up at 3am to Morgan puking all over the bedroom. I've been around a lot of puke in my day, especially in the last week, and this was hands down the foulest smelling vomit EVER. It was like leaving a bag of dirty diapers and an open quart of milk in a car with the windows up and leaving it in the sun to bake for a month and then opening the door and getting right in. And when I say throwing up all over the room, I mean all over. No square inch of carpet left un-puked. Josh had to use the vacuum to get it up (which means today we'll be buying a new vacuum).

So Josh did the room while I cleaned Morgan (that seems to be our usual defense). I took off his clothes and wiped off at much puke as possible before putting him in the tub, which was the other problem we had yesterday. After giving the boys a bath, the water was draining slowly so we plunged the tub. BIG mistake. When I went downstairs to grab a diaper, water was pouring out of the downstairs bathroom into the rest of the house. POURING! I yelled to Josh for towels and tried to save the wood floor. It took 8 bath towels and an assortment of kitchen towels to clean it up. And to add insult to injury, our dishwasher has been dying a slow and painful death and we haven't had a chance to go buy a new one. Perhaps today while we're out getting a vacuum.

So anyway, back to my story. After I gave Morgan a bath and changed his sheets and got him dressed and put him back to bed, all the while stepping around my cursing husband who busy cleaning the carpet, I had to sit on the edge of the tub and let the water out a little at a time. The smell, by then, had covered the entire second floor and there were several times I wasn't sure I was going to be keeping dinner down. We opened all the windows despite the 25 degree weather (actually quite balmy compared to recent history) and sprayed Febreeze (which didn't really help) and lit a candle. I think I washed my hands about twelve times in 30 minutes. The smell is pretty much gone this morning.

Timothy has some stomach issues as well, which I know because we've taught him not to flush when he goes upstairs since the toilet runs and you have to jiggle the handle so this morning I got a little surprise in the potty when I went to use it. Still, he got up at whatever time and used the potty by himself, so it was actually a pretty proud moment.
