Minor miracle last night - Jesse slept in his bassinet for close to 4 hours! His general routine has been to sleep in it for about 2 hours (so from 10-12 or so) and then I bring him in bed with me, feed him, and he sleeps another 3-4 hours and then eats from about 4am to 6am when I have to get in the shower. Sometimes at that point he's back to sleep and Josh catches another few winks. Sometimes not so much and Josh has to get up for the day. But anyway, last night he slept until 2am in his bassinet and then until 5:30 after being fed. Josh got up with him at 7:30 so I could sleep in (he gets Saturdays, I get Sundays).
I had Morgan's IEP meeting on Tuesday. He's had great progress academically - he can read, spell, tell time, count, add, etc. He’s pretty much academically on track or ahead of his class except for reading comprehension. He has poor fine motor skills so hates writing and they are going to explore a technology solution for him (like a hand held typing type thing). He has his own laptop at school where he does many of his lessons, which he LOVES (he has his own cubicle - like you would at work - it's hysterical!). He spends about half the day in the regular classroom and half the day in the resource room, which I think is great. He goes to all the *specials* (music, art, gym, recess, lunch) with his class (he even goes through the lunch line on his own and gets food!! he may or may not eat the food, which is why we always send a lunch, but I think this is so amazing!). As far as verbal language he basically knows every noun there is - now it's about adding some adjectives and adverbs!
So basically he met or mastered all goals this year. Next year's goals are pretty aggressive. Reading comprehension goals a plenty along with a lot of functional language (how to ask friends to play, how to ask a teacher for help) and also the adjectives and adverbs. The OT will work more on the finger strength and at home we'll work on buttons and snaps.
The cute part was when they talked about how when he does reading group in the normal classroom all the other kids ooh and ahh because he can read so well and he really likes the attention. Isn't that cute?! It sounds like the other kids are really nice to him, which makes me really happy.
Jocelyn (who, by the way, can count to 10), right this second, is busy bringing me each of the masks of the 10 plagues that Grandma and Grandpa gave us at Passover so that she can try them on and then call herself "Jocelyn monster" and roar at me. I'm afraid one has already succumbed to her roughness, but the others are hanging in there, for now! She's too funny and keeps me in stitches on a regular basis. I took her and Jesse out in the double stroller yesterday for a walk around the block. (Timothy came too - but he didn't need a stroller - and then Morgan was jealous so Josh took him around after we got back. Next time we'll all go). Jesse was quite content to ride looking at her, and she was quite content to kick about and relax. I was feeling glad that I have skinny babies as I was pushing the stroller back up the hill - boy am I out of shape! But I at least got the scale moving in the right direction this week, so I'm happy about that.
Timothy is going to a friend's house today at 1pm. He's pretty excited and has been dressed and ready to go since about 8am.
I think that Jesse is finally over 11lbs. Still very small but we'll take any growth we can get! Which I guess brings us to the «ticka ticka ticka» pump report. I was 2oz short on a Mon-Fri basis (mostly because I had one late night at work and then Friday I had an all day meeting with only a short break so I didn't get to pump very long) but had pumped 7oz last weekend (I've stopped pumping nights because it's just too exhausting) so put enough back in the freezer to keep the stash steady at 286oz and used the other 5oz to make some bananas for Jesse (I mixed 5oz with 2.5 bananas, which seems to be a good starting consistency). I put the bananas into ice cube trays and then this morning took them out and put them in a labeled freezer ziploc and stuck them on the door of the freezer. Only a few more weeks until solids!
Jesse enjoyed his momsicles this week and it kept him occupied while we were eating, though he can't quite hold it on his own. I've been sitting him up and he managed to stay in a sitting position long enough for me to get a picture. I love how babies just fall over and don't seem to have any pre-awareness of what will happen when they hit the floor!
I went to visit a co-worker of mine yesterday. She has a 2 month old (born 2/16 at 9lbs 2oz) who is quite clearly bigger than Jesse (and about as long!) but with a smaller head. They looked pretty funny next to each other. I got a picture but haven't motivated to download them lately. Maybe next week!
Yesterday after Jocelyn and I took a bath I was combing my hair, so she wanted hers combed. Then she wanted my work ID clipped to her. Then she wanted make-up. I gave her a clean face sponge thing and then she kept asking for more - but I don't have more! Not a make up brush anywhere in the place! So I guess I best get some so we can play.
Well now Jocelyn is bringing me parts of the coffee carafe, so I guess I should go see what she's in to. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
