April 28, 2007

Well my new laptop arrived and I'm back in business - yay!! So let's see if I can remember 2 weeks worth of goings on!

Last week I was lying with Jocelyn rubbing her hair as I was putting her to bed. "I love you Jocelyn," I said. Her reply? "I love you ... binkies" hahaha - she's a binky fiend. She only has them for bedtime and naptime really, but has to have a handful. So silly.

Last Sunday was our quarterly sister brunch so Jesse and I met up with Mandy, Ruby, Patience, Elisabeth, and Chase in Sturbridge and we had a nice baby brunch. Everyone we passed commented on all the babies and despite the fact that we all nursed at varying times during the meal, we received no nasty looks and when the waitress gave us the check she smiled and said 'here you go mommies'. It was cute.

When I got home I learned that Timothy had thrown up while I was gone and was now in bed. He stayed home Monday though appeared to be better. Then Monday night Morgan threw up and stayed home Tuesday. Jocelyn was mostly spared. Jesse has a cold instead and has been a crank this week though appears to be on the mend now (fingers crossed!).

My intentions of waiting until 6 months to start solids didn't exactly work out and we started last Sunday with some oatmeal cereal then Wednesday with bananas. He LOVES solids! No gagging, no tongue thrusting, eats them right down. Only one day when he was feeling the worst did he not want them. We've actually gone to 2 meals a day (about 2-3oz of food at each meal) in order to pack some weight onto the skinny little man, and it seems to be working - he gained about 5oz this week (better than the zero gain he had the week before - which is partially what inspired me to finally give in and start feeding him cuz eeek!).

It doesn't seem to have changed the amount he drinks during the day or the frequency of nursing while I'm home, so that's good (well, good for him but not so great for my freezer stash which suffered a 6oz hit over the last two weeks, 4oz of which was extra milk to make the solids with. it's still at 280oz though, so I think we're ok for now and I'll be trying to get in a few extra pump sessions this weekend to see if I can make up some of that). Anyway, today we get to start another food so I told Josh to look for an avocado or sweet potato at the grocery store.

I've started climbing 5 flights of stairs once a day at work (each flight is 27 stairs though - of course I counted!) and my legs are killing me this week! It's a good pain though and Thursday I made it without holding on to the railing. Then Sunday, Tues, and Thurs I took Jesse and Jocelyn out for a walk in the double jogging stroller (it's a 1 mile route but I need to find a 2 mile route so that's the charge for this weekend). Jocelyn loves the ride, Jesse loves to look at Jocelyn, and I need the exercise - win win win!

Morgan had a great week at school (except the day he missed of course) and his note home said that he was using expressive language spontaneously (like "this is fun" and "I like it"). That reminds me - the boys need more money in their lunch account. Hmmm, better go do that now before I forget.

Ok, all set - gotta love the internet.

Anyway, let's see, what else. Oh, it almost seems like spring! We had some great time outside last weekend. It was soooooo nice to see the sun! Our next door neighbor came by to say hi (Morgan walked up and hugged him despite never having met him - d'oh!!). Saturday I got Jocelyn all dressed in a pretty dress and pigtails before going out but she was in SUCH a mood that I didn't get a picture that did her cuteness justice (as you probably noticed from the website). Oy when she is in a mood SHE IS IN A MOOD. Girls! Sunday was much better.

We've started a new Friday ritual called Champagne Fridays. When I get home a fill the tub and Josh brings me Champagne and whatever kid wants to take a bath and we all hang out in the tub while Josh and I toast ourselves for making it through another week. I must say, it's a great ritual! Not the most responsible to combine liquor, parenting, and water - but hey, whatev.

With Jesse's cold his sleep patterns have been just horrible the last 2 nights. Usually I let Josh sleep in on Saturdays and then I take Sundays but I just couldn't even function this morning so Josh got up at 7ish with Jesse and I went back to sleep for 3 hours - best sleep ever! I feel so much better now. And Jesse wasn't hungry, in fact he went down for a nap at 9:30 and slept for almost 2 hours.

Timothy is learning multiplication tables at school. Fun is! The other day his homework said he had to explain factors to someone at home. So he comes to me and says "It says I have to explain factors to you, but I'm pretty sure you already know about factors." hahaha - I think he missed the point!

Jocelyn says her name with 3 very distinct syllables - it cracks me up. Joc-e-lyn. Just now she holds up a pink blanket and says "This blanket is Joc-e-Iyn's" She's a good talker! She's also learned "MINE" and "NO" and uses them ever more frequently.

Well Jesse's done nursing so time to go cram him full of cereal and bananas. Then when Josh gets home from the grocery store perhaps we'll try to find a 2 mile walking route before it rains. Hope everyone has a fun weekend!
