July 1, 2007

I love weekends - so much better than weekdays! Let's see, what did I do today ... well I did my yoga dvd and then I cleaned an entire roll of toilet paper out of the toilet (thank you Jocelyn). Then we all went outside and played basketball and then I picked a bunch of sidewalk chalk out of my tailpipe (thanks again little J!). She's a pip that one I tell ya.

Jesse gained 6oz this week, which is perfect. He's getting too big too fast now! His sleep has been all over the place. For example Friday night he slept, in his crib, from 9pm until 4am then I brought him in bed with me and he nursed and slept until 8. Then last night hewent down at 9 and was up at 10, 11, and finally in bed wuth me at 12 where he wiggled until 5am and then Josh put him in his crib and he slept until 8. oy.

No teeth yet but that doesn't stop him from cramming those cheerios in by the fistful, which is cute. They don't seem to make him break out anymore, so that's good. We gave up on the baby cereal and gerber puffs though - those made a rash and I wonder if it's some additive that is used just for baby stuff that he seems to have a problem with. I may try some adult oatmeal and see what happens. He did have some ground up chicken mixed in with his sweet potatoes this week. Chicken grinds amazingly well! It wasn't his favorite (yogurt is his favorite) but he ate it just the same. Last weekend I chopped up some plum for him and he made such a face - so I tasted it myself and boy was it bitter - yikes! Yesterday I steamed a pear and added that to his yogurt, which he enjoyed. He makes kissy noises now and is quite pleased with himself at that accomplishment. He isn't crawling but he can pivot with the best of them.

Josh took all 4 kids to the grocery store this week!!! Impressive huh? Jesse was in the front of the cart and Jocelyn rode in the back until there was too much food and then she held Timothy's hand. Morgan wandered about but it was pretty empty in there. When they got to the front, one checker calls to the others - "hey girls - Josh is here and he's got ALL the kids!" hahaha - I like to tease him about his girlfriends at the grocery store, a collection of 60-something ladies that always ask him about the kids.

I heard a bang last night and went up stairs to check it out. Jocelyn had managed to get her gate off (likely by throwing her body at it) and was trying to get in to Morgan's room to play. He was on the other side of his gate waiting for her (his is off the ground a bit so he can't step over, so she was trying to crawl under). It was pretty cute so I put her in there and they played for a half hour before the tears started. No idea what she was upset about, probably just over tired.

She's had fun with him being home all week. Yesterday I was working in the garden while Josh was playing with the kids outside and noticed that Jocelyn just follows Morgan around. Then I hear her giving him what-for and I look over and she's shaking a stick at him and reprimanding him for something. He didn't seem to really give a hoot what she was saying, but stood there and listened just the same.

We got our basketball hoop assembled, finally, and Timothy has been a basketball playing fool! He's actually not bad. He'll play out there for hours, which is great. Josh says during the day he goes out and he and Timothy play basketball while Morgan and Jocelyn play in the water table and with sidewalk chalk. Jesse sits in the bouncy seat in the shade and every so often Jocelyn will run over to make him laugh and then run back. Can't get much better than that!

Today Timothy and I played 2 on 1 against Josh but it got a little competitive and Josh fell down and hurt his wrist so game called (Timothy and I were up by a point though, so we won!). Then Timothy and I did some suicide drills in the driveway. I almost didn't beat him! I guess he got his speed (or lack there of) from me.

Morgan was chattering the other day and we listened and realized that he was reciting "Where the Wild Things Are". We think there was a clip on noggin with the guy reading it and he must have memorized it. It's pretty cute. We've been trying to limit his snacking since he really bulked up this year. We figure we'll just cut out some of the cookies and crackers and then wait for him to get taller. He runs back and forth across the house for most of the day, so I don't think it's an exercise thing, I think he just eats too many goldfish.

On the subject of cookies - Jocelyn has developed an odd preference. She only likes cookies that "open". Then she eats the frosting out and leaves the cookie. Weird kid!

Yesterday I cleaned out Jesse's dresser and retired most of the 3-6 month clothes. (Except for shorts, those still fit, in fact one day this week I came home and Jocelyn was wearing a pair of Jesse's shorts!). I found a good number of age appropriate 6-9 month clothing items in the bins I keep in Timothy's closet, and then I ordered a few new things to round out his new wardrobe.

I only have Wednesday off this week, but I guess that's better than having nothing off! A new boundless playground opened in town and I think we might meet a friend over there to play. So that will be fun. Hope everyone else has plans at least as exciting as that!
