I got out paper and crayons tonight. It had been a while and even though none of my kids has ever been particularly interested, I continue to try (with pretty much the same crayons I've had for 8 years) every few months. Well I'm so glad I did because Jocelyn had a field day! She was so excited and quickly got to work trying out every crayon. She couldn't decide which hand to use though! Kept pass it back and forth from left to right and eventually was coloring twice as fast with 2 crayons. I made lines, she made lines. I made circles, she made circles. We practiced colors - she was good at black and blue - the rest were a bit of a craps shoot. She kept trying to eat the orange. When the paper was full she flipped it over and did the back. She had so much fun! She kept handing me crayons - color mommy! and then she'd get back to work.

After 40 minutes I told her it was time for bed and she looked at me like I killed her puppy. I assured her she could color more tomorrow, so she took the two crayons in her hands and put them in the box and closed the lid (of course, she didn't pick up the other 40 allover the ground - but that's ok) and marched off to bed. I picked up the crayons and left them with fresh paper and a new coloring book (well, by *new* I mean I bought it 5 or 6 years ago and no one ever used it) - all on her high chair for tomorrow.

Girls are fun.
