January 31, 2007

I took Jesse in to Timothy's classroom today for show and tell. I don't think anything can really prepare you for the noise of 23 8- year olds. They were all VERY excited to meet the baby and basically rushed me. I sat on a chair holding Jesse and they all tried to see how close they could get to me. I was swatting hands away and couldn't even tell which kids they were from. Jesse was lovin' it though - they were all making goo goo faces at him and he was smiling away. The teacher finally got them to sit and they sang 2 songs which Jesse also loved. Timothy answered some questions, and I use that term liberally (for example, Caitlin's question was that when she was a baby her brother wanted to name her Cindy but she cried when she heard that name).

Then the teacher told the kids to get their stuff together while she held the baby for a bit - but what really happened is they all decided to tell me their life stories. I learned that Gabe’s house is under construction so his morn makes him do his own laundry but his brother does the ironing. Caitlin told me that she forgot to say that when she heard the name Caitlin she smiled so that's why they named her that. Gabe said when he was born he was 6 inches and 6 pounds, which was huge. Rhea has a new baby at her house too but he cries all night. I could go on and on.

A couple other funny stories. Josh went up and let Jocelyn out from her nap the other day and asked her if she wanted french fries. She went running into Morgan's room - "Morgan! French fries! Let's go!" and motioned for him to follow her. She also found a juice box and brought it to him while he was sick on the couch. He thanked her and handed her his cookie. She thanked him and the transaction was complete. And finally - we had been giving Jocelyn TV in bed when she was sick, a bad habit I know (we finally cut her off tonight). I went upstairs last night and turned off Dora because it was 10pm and she was still up. She asked me for Sponge Bob and I said no, it's bed time. So she goes running to the door "DADDY! SPONGE BOB!"
